Default HPI Racing Releases the Baja 5SC today!!

1/5th SCALE SHORT COURSE THRILLS! [link=http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/105231/]HPI Baja 5SC[/link]

Jump into the thrill of Short Course racing with the Baja 5SC truck from HPI! The Baja 5SC takes the HPI Baja line-up to the next level with a new SC-1 body that gives the Baja 5SC authentic Short Course looks. Adding to the durability and realistic looks is a new skid-plate front bumper and a large rear bumper with real rubber mud flaps. Power comes from a massive 26cc Fuelie engine that propels the Baja 5SC to speeds in excess of 40mph and it runs for more than 45 minutes on a single tank of regular unleaded pump gasoline. For extra traction on any dirt surface, HB Rodeoo tires are now standard equipment, mounted on new TR-10 bead-lock truck wheels. We increased durability with Super Heavy Duty 9mm drive shafts, updated rear hub carriers, and HD front hex hubs. A 2.4GHz radio system is standard equipment for precise control and long distance reception without the hassles of frequency crystals. It's all ready-to-run right out of the box, pre-assembled by our expert crew so you can hit the dirt quickly.

I was just telling you about a true SC body for the T...this is great. It still a shame they can't figure out 4WD for the Baja....They should do like they did with the 4x4 Slash and reference the Revo suspension in largescale!

totally agree with Bentley....talk about flogging a dead horse...time HPI came up with something totally new and 4wd...the converting a 2wd sand rail thing is getting old, can't see much difference between the 5t and this apart from some mudflaps. Body looks the part but sure it will be retarded in price like the t body is.
With all the no how and build experience from the smaller scales HPI have you'd have though by now they'd be building what people are asking for...a totally new 4wd platform...

if you really want 4wd SC buy the CEN, looks near the same as this and with the 500bucks you'll save you be able to buy an MCD LSD diff for the rear + a few other goodies.

not that I know of.., don't know if it would hold up to serious bashing but round a track it should be ok, he put about 6 tanks thru it at my place stock out the box...apart from stripping the plastic c and d gears it did pretty good, getting spares might be a headache though some FS and MCD stuff may fit...I do know he's planning on getting MCD lsd diffs eventually, the stock ones don't hold oil...we'll see what it's like after it's got some more hours on it...
that's the one thing with the hpi, as it's just a dressed up 5b you know that you're getting something that's well proven and there's a million upgrades for it, just a 4wd would have been nice.

I think the Cen SC model is an exact replica of the MCD Rally. Has the same style of A-arms and so on. Just diff gearing I guess and cosmetic stuff. I would like to see one in person.

1)Can you still use the 5T body? 2) Is the suspension the same? Same size tires ect. So just to clarify is the same as the 5T but with better parts like axles, toe in.... and a new body. I'm just wondering bc the 5T is discontinued and can only get a 5sc or 5b and only like the 5t look.

Yes, you can use the T body on any of Najas now. The rear bumper is nice, it protects the body and makes it last longer.

What a waste if you ask me, all this work to market and advertise the same dam truck with a different body??? Why not just offer the body as an option being they don't change a dam thing on the chassis.
Can't understand the reason to discontinue the 5T just to announce this 5SC, HPI must think all the retailers and baja maniacs are stupid...And if thats the case, it's a great gimmick for HPI but disappointing to the end user IMO

it's typical of hpi to do this.
just look at how many times they changed a couple parts on the savage and called it a new truck.
time will tell though if these new parts on the 5sc hold up or are any better than what they replaced.

They are basically the same only the HPI is the good quality original, and the Rovan and KM are cheap clones. You get what you pay for.

Please watch your language on RCU btw, I edited your post.

I have an 5SC and the truck is a blast. I am a basher, not a racer and outside of the usual suspects (chewed plastic spur and the like) the baja chassis is known for I have had no problems. The body does take a beating though. The rear wheels tend to hit the body and chew it up pretty good. Truck jumps really nice and really handles abuse nicely though. My only suggestion would be definitely change the pipe. The HPI pipe is loud as hell and does little for performance.

Are you still running the plastic CB carrier? If so replace it with a alloy or even better the Turtle Racing complete clutch system and you will not eat up a spur. I have many gallons on my 5b SS and never messed up a spur. I replace my plastic CB carrier before I ever ran it with the TR complete clutch system that has MANY advantages. The plastic CB carrier has way to much flex.
