Default question about gassers

are gas powered vehicles easier to maintain than nitro and electric or harder?

okay so they use less maintainence than electric and nitro, and less tuning than nitro? if so how durable are gassers and do you need to take apart the engine and clean it? also how many times do you need to tune the engine?

Once the engine is broken in, which is usually done in one tank, you set the low side of the carb, then the high. You are now done. Install a mixture screw clamp so your settings don't change and your good to go. Figure you will need to re-ring after maybe 10gals. of fuel depending on the oil you use. I run coleman camp fuel with redline racing 100% synthetic 2 stroke oil mixed at 40:1 for my stuff.

gassers do have to be tuned more than just one time but way better than any nitro

To re-ring, you have to pull the head off, replace the ring, reinstall head with a new gasket. Very easy. The mixture screw clamp that Imentioned earlier can be found at cc racing engines. It's a small clamp that keeps the mix screws from turning after you dial in your tune.

Gassers require very little tuning compared to nitro, with nitro you need to tune it almost every run if you want optimal performance, even the change in weather can make a nitro go from good to bad in seconds! The only time u need to tune a petrol (gas) engine is during break in which is a very simple process & also if you decide to fit a new tuned pipe etc.

One dialled in, then thats pretty much it, ive had my FG MB Pro about 6 years now, i tuned it once when breaking in & then last year (about 5 years later!) i fitted a DOM, so had to retune it, although ive still not got around to tuning it yet! will do it soon tho

Maintenance wise: look after your car, it will look after you! ..be it nitro/electric or Gas. I clean mine after EVERY session, depending how much muck is on it, its either a simple wipe down & inspection, or if its covered, then a total strip down which cant take a good few hours! (or in my case days as im a lazy bugger!) ...but its worth it in the end as it still runs as solid as it did from the day i bought it

hope this helps
