I certainly hope they'll be a more reasonable price for the smaller ones.  I'm sure they'll sell a buttload of them just for the status symbol.  I couldn't justify that price to myself regardless if I could easily afford it or not, much less the 2k going rate for the insanely powered ones.  I'll bet, other than maybe with a two speed and in sand dunes, a ported zen will be every bit as fast in a baja chassis in MOST situations - the ones I run in anyway.

The thing about the PRO MX 50 you can do with it you cannot with a nicely ported Zen is you can run VERY tall gearing. By crunching the numbers they are calculating speeds of 80mph or more with a single speed in a HPI baja. Which top speed does not mean a whole lot to me. I prefer good handling on the track.

Here is a quote from a post and a newer video. Stock gearing is 17/57

[Now that my 50 has loosened up it has pulled up to just over 18200rpm on 26/48 with the 20tooth trans gear.]

Lets hope that in the future better chassis than the Baja are developed that can put the power down.

Have you owned a Baja? From my understanding it is suppose to have the same foot print as a CY or Zen. It is not like other big motors where you have to have a mounting kit.

talking about how it handles with these twins and 50cc engines in it . Only seen a few baja with these big blocks that did not repeatly pop wheelies , fishtail and were totally out of control with these motors.

I do understand what you are saying. The videos I have been posting on the Pro 50 most of them have a plate on the back to keep them from doing much of a wheelie and or flipping over.

This is a 12hp BZM 40cc and in the video you can see the plate and he even bents it up some so he is able to do small wheelie.

Those engines are very impressive but more then likely I will never have one unless some one gives me one for free. I am like you I prefer something that is race able. Unfortunately there are not any large scale tracks with in 400 or so miles of me any more. When I was racing my stock 26 with a good pipe was all I needed. I really miss racing and do to not having any tracks near by I might get out of large scale all together.

Just found out that this years ISC speed championship scheduled for November here in the USA has been canceled, too bad!!![] I was looking forward to this years championships because of all the new unique and powerful 23-62cc single cylinder and twin cylinder engines on the market for large scale. I was expecting records to fall for the largescale class. Oh well guess I will have to wait for next year. But I have heard a rumor brewing that someone is considering making a LONG ROD for the 62cc Skopod motor and port work on the sleeve to make it turn more RPMS and put out more HP!! So the hp war is still brewing.

What sort of system are they going to use to check the speed? Speed trap which is the best or cheap radar gun?

seems pricey to be out of steam at 15,000 rpm.

.................Yeah but this is not the finish product yet they are trying to get higher revs out of it . And with the torque and hp this motor is generating you should be able to gear it to the moon

No better then what Honda does in F1 racing not sure if that is good or bad. If I am not mistaken they are not even running any more. [X(]

In my opinion anything over 4 to 7 HP is useless. No way in HELL would I pay more then $400 to $500 for a motor unless it was in something I can get into and drive. But that is just me.

i feel you. $300 just for a case and anothe $200-300 for a head is too much. a PP 4 bolt zen can make 6HP with a stronger power curve and cost half as much.

.............................When did I tell you guys to buy this motor?? All I am attempting to do is make you aware of whats new out there. Pick and select what you want and buy what you want. It is not the intention of this thread to tell you what to buy.
