Default Official Losi 26cc 5IVE-T Thread

http://losi.com/Products/Default.asp...=LOSB0019BLKBD

Figured its unique enough to warrant it's own thread. It looks well designed, 4wd, nice cg, awesome looks, multiple part body and nice cage. Thankfully it's gas powered. Now we just have to see about hop ups...

Whoa, this thing looks fantastic... it's designed like the 8ight. $1500 is a lot of money though, I should sell off some of my crap and buy one...

I'm really glad they entered at the high end though, we have enough mediocre 1/5 scale stuff floating around. The videos look good, reminds me of the old MCD Baja 1000 a bit in terms of handling. I'd like to see a kit version though. Anyone know who actually makes that engine?

All I can say is there is most likely some guy at HPI headquarters saying
"well look at that I told u so". If the 5ive is not a flop than the hpi boys have some catching up to do cause that thing looks (and I stress LOOKS) good. I like the idea of the center diff and being able to have brake bais also.

Its not Zenoah, looks like the standard CY26.

It's different enough that the HPI 2wd platform is still relevant, they should feel pretty different to drive. From the looks of things the baja seems like it can still take more of a beating, but we'll have to see. Also need to wait and see what pipe options pop up.

First gasser I've seen to pique my interest... Nice looking RC.

For the price though it'd better be pretty bullet-proof and not need a bunch of hopups...

I dunno... I thought the 8ight looked pretty fragile, but mine has turned out to be one of the toughest things I have ever owned. This thing just looks like a bigger version.

Just watched the video. Looks plenty hopped up out the box. I like the four piece body. My redcat is looking old already still I would be scared to beat on a 1600 dollar machine like I do my 600 buck redcat.

Says CY on the side of the engine, I'm pretty confident it is a 2bolt as well.
If it is 70% as good as the 8ight... it's a winner in performance but sadly i think the Short Course class is a loser period unless electric. Electric Short Course trucks/racing has taken all the tracks by storm but nitro Short course failed and I dont think Gas Short Course will pick up either. They should have released a Buggy version first imo.

Yes Zen is better but I have not had a moments trouble out of any of my CY engines.

Still, first thing I'd do is drop a 30.5cc race ported 4 bolt in there. Provided some good pipes come out, which I'm sure will. Losi might make their own and DDM will probably make a dominator for it. Good alternative to MCD vehicles, and it definite has a nice body.

They mention it can use other 1/5 tires, hopefully that means baja tires (probably does since they're beadlocks). I don't particularly like that tread, that thing needs some Dune Reapers.

i think the opposite and reckon the thing that is going to ignite the 1/5th scale rc market and get more people into our hobby, if anything, is sc's that look real, are gas and are 4wd...i like the looks of this truck (yes the 5sc looks good too but underneath it's basically just a 2wd 5b) and the 4 piece body is a nice touch and adds to the realism.
1500 is up there (and you still need a radio unless you already have a spektrum then you can bind to the installed rx...bind and drive apparently???) but the hpi 5sc is 1250 for 2wd ; it remains to be seen how durable it is...time will tell, but big kudos to losi for coming up with a new platform (ferox uses a similar layout as do many nitros) i like it.

Yeah to venture a guess I'd say it's going to be a good performer. The baja platform just has soooo many aftermarket parts though. There probably isn't a more customizable platform out there.

i thought its gonna be more than $1600..but for a 5th scale that price is actually in range..it looks good too..the 5SC is $1250 without the cage ..if you buy the cage that adds up to almost $1600.only thing is youre getting a tougher team chase cage..

I seriously dough they would make a conversion for the baja with the radio box and fuel tank in the way with a narrow chassis.
