Love the Mk2 Escort I had a RS2000 many years ago! what is the overall length, width and wheel base? wonder if it will fit onto a MCDX4 chassis?

I had one three or four years ago, had to let it go due to lack of money, time to fix it and a garage to fix it in. The wheelbase is 535 mm, the width is 380 mm and the overall lenght is about 86 cm. The X4 is just over 400 mm wide, isn't it? The guy who makes these bodies also makes Opel Kadett GT/E, i think this is 400 mm wide. And Opel Ascona 400, and i have heard he has a Lancia Stratos in the pipeline!

Ok, nice to know that. But also a bit sad if i break the body i have now and have to make the car wider to get a new body to fit.

Thank you, thank you
And i think it looks even better now, i really love how it turns out! Much better than i thought it would be for some reason. Some pics from todays work:

Thanks, Mudgy!

Oh yes, that is the only thing missing. I do have some nice wipers made by FG that i was going to use on my Focus rally, but they are for right hand drive cars, which is very not suitable for a left hand drive-car[>:] I am annoyingly picky with details[:-]

Finally i got to start with building the frame, i will use some leftover parts from my FG, like the diff and some other parts. I still have some parts left that i see can come handy later in the build

Here is some more pics of the frame, i made a new plate to place the diff on as i had to turn the bearing blocks the other way facing forward. So far just a mockup to see if everything fits and nothing gets in another things way

Here is some pictures of the shock i have redone a bit. I am going to use only one shock in the front. And also a pic of the drivetrain that is soon to be completed, just haven't taken more pictures of it. More to come soon!

Very nice Lars! This piece of drive train (the angled gears) is a neat idea, makes me think of a way to make a home made diff, if you cut the shaft in the middle and have an output on each side driving a universal. Would just need a small piece of tube around the cut center part to hold the two shafts aligned.
I like how you engineered the rear suspension too, how you reused the plastic parts to integrate in your design. Keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words!
The bevel gears are in fact from an FG diff, i found them very nice and small to use for this purpose. I ditched the idea of using the angle grinder setup which i planned, it got too lumpy and heavy.

I had my eyes open for a cheap 5 inch one, i think it might have worked. But then i had to start with chains and sprockets and boring stuff, so here is what i ended up with:
