FERAL (Just a bit of fun)
Another dirty project started to take shape yesterday as it was raining and I couldn't go to work.
Been wanting to try this motor in a car for some time now.
It's the same chainsaw motor I had in that -> [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7kPn6S2jPE&list=UUu1CY8lmq9yq41K-KY3KXqg&index=41]chopper[/link] a few years ago and it pulled me without any problems so it should go ok here.
I'm using the wheels and rear axle from a pocket quad and some rusty steel I had laying around.
Making it as simple as possible for now to see how the motor performs.
Might stick a tuned pipe on it to make it louder.

RE: FERAL (Just a bit of fun)
Pretty quiet around here then..... [&:]
Anyway
I got it all together yesterday and took it for a quick lap around the backyard.
I think I'm gonna have to chuck another set of sprockets in there to gear it down a bit.
It pulls it ok the way it is - about 4.8:1 - but it's gonna be too fast and out of control.
Steering works well though and it has a great turning circle for its size.
Putting that big lawnmower diff in might also be an option down the track.

BOOOOOYA!
I like! The frame looks a bit like a truck-frame, pretty long wheelbase compared to the width of it. I imagined a little driver cabin on top of the front wheels

RE: FERAL (Just a bit of fun)
Haha yeah it might be a bit narrow but we'll see how it goes.
Didn't put too much thought in to the dimensions and I used the rear axle as it came off the pocket quad so that set the width
Will take some more pics later when the camera is charged up.
Also fitted a tuned pipe yesterday which looks pretty sweet but I have no idea if it will make any improvements to the performance.
Should make it louder anyway.

RE: FERAL (Just a bit of fun)
Hey no vids yet but I've got a new camera which I'll be putting to use as soon as it's ready for a drive.
Ok some more pics.
Simple but effective steering setup.
A bit of security screen holding the electronics in place for the time being.
Tuned pipe
Had to make up a manifold plate for it.
From the rear
The pullstart didn't really work as I've cut too much off the casing over time for various reasons, so I welded the flywheel nut on and start it with a socket on the drill.
All in all probably about 2-3 days work to get it to this stage which isn't bad I suppose.
And I made it entirely from crap I had laying around in the shed which is always satisfying.

I like what i see - simple and effective! I use a similar socket when starting the engine for my Escort, but i have put a one way bearing in it to prevent it from dragging the socket along when it fires.

Yeh Mudge it's ratty alright!
Once that shiny pipe went on it changed the appearance quite a bit.
Also the angle of the motor has that Ford Tudor rat feel to it.
Lars - One way bearing hey... hmm... I like that....

Still nice. I like the rust Planning to put bolts through the two holes on the back of the bearingholders aswell? I see before me that the rear part of them maybe will lift a bit when the chain gets tension.

Nah doesn't seem to be any problems there.
The holes are right on top of the corner welds anyway so can't really put a bolt through there.
If anything, a small weld tack or two,
But doesn't seem to need it.
