Current project: 1964 CJ-5 1:3,5 scale
Hello to all, here a pic of my CJ-5 project in 1:3,5 scale. The plug is 80% finished and the mold should be ready end of the month. I'm planing to put it on a baja 5 frame

why the cj-5? the 1:3,5 scale is my favorite and will fit in this case a baja5 with 57 cm wheelbase

today's update: Yota axles came from the customs, new front lights from the fleamarket and the left fender is done. A steel frame is also ready. I go back sanding

i looked into the yota axles a while back and contacted rc4wd about the strength and durability...they are built using 1/8th scale parts so i was told that our gas engines would tear them apart, ok for electric scale crawlers though...

That's right! Yota 1/5 Axles are to weak for race or bashing purpose. I choose them only for their good scale look. This car once finished , will the scale factor be the most important for me.. The engine ,a 4 stroke small 1.2 HP motor (is it fit inside) should be enough power to move forward . Electric engine is an option too. Right now the frame is done,next step will be the leaf springs,shocks and the 1/8 Scale truck transfer case mounting.

frame is done! yota axles on homemade leaf springs,transfercase mount installed,almost all welding job finished......tomorrow back sanding the body

can you tell me what you made the leaf springs out of and is the transfer case a off the shelf item or did you make that ??

Hi Bentley. the transfer case is for a 1/8 Truck ( http://www.veroma-modellbau.com/e-sh...ncing-1-3.html) and the leafs are homemade and are from special "spring iron"(???) 15x2mm, and easy to make

yes I had to head them first ,otherwise there is no posibility to bend them.I had to harden again but added 1/5 shocks too for a good duty. I've tried with 5 ,then 4 leafs and right now with 3 leafs and additionnal shocks are OK for a smoth on and offroad use.
