Read my post here

You DO NOT want to buy the traxxas buggy. That thing has no aftermarket support, and is very high priced for such a low quality buggy.
Krikke racing http://www.netshop.nl/shop/rc/ has the FG marder for UNDER $700! You can easily get a FG marder up and running for under your $1000 budget but i seriously doubt you're going to be able to do that with the traxxas.
You're going to want to get an FM radio (i'm using the airtronics mx3) with a high torque standard sized servo for the throttle/brake and a 1/4 scale metal gear servo for the steering. You can use two steering servos but as long as you buy a quality servo you only need one. Personally i'm using a Hitec 5735MG servo for the steering.
Feel free to ask more questions

The Traxxas Monster Buggy is straight out of 1984 with a 2003 price tag . I feel sorry for the poor saps who waste $900 bucks on that thing, Traxxas is disgusting.
The FG Marder is definitely going to be your best bet.

The Traxxas is a frickin hunk of crap. out dated, no performance parts, worth about 1/8 of what they sell them for. I'll agree with everyone else get a FG Marder you will not be disapointed. If you have to save for an extra month to get the FG, DO IT!!! Dont buy the traxxas.

You shouldn't have to save at all because the traxcrap is $900 and i believe krikke is selling the FG Marder for around $650 now. With shipping from holland the FG marder is still cheaper.

Hi Mike,
It's a shame the dollar is so low at this moment (or the Euro is high) but nevertheless we have the marder on sale for $628. The shipping costs (priority) to the states are $57,50 for a marder.
So a marder shipped to the states is $685,50

Wow, $57 for shipping from Holland is an amazing deal! Shipping from Canada for an FG Evo was over $110 for me!
The one reason I rarely order from overseas is because of shipping costs, but since shipping costs are so cheap from krikke, i'll definitely be ordering from them in the future.

Hi Accord,
The shipping costs for these heavy boxes are extremely high, we can keep the weight of a marder if we cut the original box a bit smaller under the 10KG. But there is no way we could keep the weight of an Evo under the 10KG ( the car alone is 10KG). The shipping costs from Holland for an Evo are $95, but it's still a bit cheaper

How much would shipping be to the USA for a couple of small parts like a differential and a clutch?

RE: **WANTED** 1/5 or 1/6 scale buggy
jtakeman - Hey there....well, there was a Marder and MB on EBAY last week. The new MB's have a better engine. The new engine is a G230RC which has a yellow kill switch and the older style has a red kill switch. So far I have not had any trouble with it as far as assembly or reliability. I let somone else drive it on pavement last week and they flipped it trashing the top wing. Just today I was showing off in a narrow parking lot and hit a curb at about half throttle bending 1 upper front camber rod. Nothing broke and I'm still driving it. I don't plan to ever ramp it. I suggest you look for a used one unless money is no object. The farthest "offroad" I have run it is flat/dirt road. No trail blazing. I can tell you this, I mostly run in a wide open park/soccer field and everytime I have been there and any male was there between the age of 3 to 80 they always stop to watch me run. It draws a crowd and sounds good, looks way big and hauls buns! Overall I have been extremley pleased! I have not owned any nitro so, I can't compare to that. I have launched all 4 wheels off the ground at low speed/height and not broken anything but other MB owners have replaced front A arms and slipper clutch parts. I have purchased the tuned pipe but, not installed yet.
Hope that answers your questions!

If anyone is interested, i have a FG Pajero which is 100% modified (no plastic whatsoever !! )
- all metal arms
- adjustable sliper doif
- 4 wheel hudraulic braker
- 26cc senoah engine (with apare 13cc head and piston)
- samba tunning pipe
- wide stance wheels
- adjustable oil shock (as well as original standard spares)
- KB air filter with cover
- metal servo saver arms
- all servos (2 1/4 for steering, 2 hi torq std for brakes/throt)
- metal engine mounts
- all metal bulkheads
I ran the car 3 times, (does not even have a tank through it), and never got to run it again. The turbine jets and helicopters got me pretty busy on that side of the hobby ... i will take any resonable ofers, (over $3600 in this car not counting the electronics)

I'm a small outfit that specializes in custom large scale cars. We just completed a 1/5 scale buggy that easily outshines all other competitors. Look to this ebay link. You may need to cut and paste it into your address bar.
