Default Speed difference and size comparison?

I had an old post than disappeared. I was just wondering if you guys to tell me then major speed difference between my Losi LST and an FG MT? Low-end, mid-range and high-end? I know a few of you replied last time and thanks so if you could leave some more info it would be appreciated. And one more thing, does anyone have any pics of a size comparison of an LST and FG MT? I know the FG is substantially bigger but just for my reference. Thanks guys

Hi,

I also have a Traxxas Revo and the MT completely dwarfs it, the Revo looks like a model car up against the MT. Speed wise in my own opinion the MT is as quick as a Revo.

What do you mean by speed? Top speed or acceleration? I have both the LST and MT. The LST can out accelerate the MT. This is because of the traction difference. It is also faster in the corners on loose dirt. Top end: The track I drive on I can not get the MT up to top speed (to short of straight of way), but would bet the MT is a lot faster. I have a radar gun and one day will validate my claim as true or false. This is all based on what my eye is telling me. I guy that I race/bash with has a LST also. It ticks me off when he passes the MT in the corners so I just run his ***** off the road.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering. I've heard some people say that the MT has moe torque and then others say that the LST has more torque? I'm just trying to get an overall low-end difference, mid-range difference and high-end difference? Thanks for the pics hpiguy, you got some nice toys! Fourwheeler just let me know when you get those pics. Any more info is still appreciated.

i dont know how someone could compare the torque of a LST with a large scale gasser.
the difference how ive seen it so far, my truck can sit at the bottom of a hil, with no run up, and often make it to the top
without full revs. a nitro truck, be it savage or lst, needs a decent runup everytime

Sounds like they got some pretty good torque then! I was just wondering cause I've kinda got mixed reviews on the topic. Does it matter a whole lot when your off-road that your truck is only 2WD, or can it go almost anywhere a 4WD truck can?

4wd would be a nice to have, but i dont think that necessary, as there isnt a lot of weight on the front wheels.
obvioulsy a 4wd Gasser compared to 2wd Gasser, would get out of more difficult spots, but a 2wd Gasser vs a nitro, well, i think
even if the nitro's had 8 wheel drive, theyd still be struggling to keep up, in all aspects of bashing, btw, this is my opinion only.

True MT light in the front. LST mid motor and more weight on the front tires. I drive on a loose dirt track and the MT has tons of power and when coming out of the turns it wants to lift front end and so there is no traction on front tires to turn. The LST can pull out of the corners a lot faster because of the added traction. This is all based on a dirt track that I drive on. If you were to look at power to weight ratio I think the LST would have more power. Torque: the FG has alot more.

As I said in the old post, there is no nitro with the torque of large scale gass car. As far as the lst goes my buddy sees my dust unless we are on hard packed dirt like most rc tracks are. My MB can't get any traction on that stuff but on sand and normal soft dirt that bashing usually involves he don't have a chance. My MB has an FG tuned pipe as far as power mods go.

deeppaul: Regarding speed:

I have recently meassured (with speed gun) my MT-5 vs. a REVO. To make it short the REVO guy just wanted to verify the speedassumption he had... 40+ MPH or not.

Some other wanted to see the MT-5 in action so I just took it with me for a short run on grass/asphalt)..

Revo topped out at approx. 40 mph. HE was happy... Then the drag race (people wanted that) hehe

I have 17/46 (17T has diameter of 18T - before someone think it is a typo LOL)

REVO got in front for the first 3-5m (10-15ft), then the MT-5 simply blasted past the REVO. Topping out at 48-50 MPH. I was quite surprised myself.

Same gears I run but I have a 50 tooth diff gear instead of the 48. Its a litte faster on top than stock but it would be a little slower than your combo unless you have the 50 tooth diff gear also.

Patented? That takes YEARS and thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and patent research fees.

Just take a pic.....................

We'll keep it secret.

I was going to switch back to the 48 to tame the wheelies but 45w shock oil in the back has made it much better.

Deeppaul, thanks for the pic, that gave me a good idea. Thanks everyone else for the info. I'm learning more and more everyday, . I really like my LST and was debating on spending over a grand on FG MT. If I would get one I would just sell my LST to get it but it's just so hard to part with over a grand. I'm debating on an FG MT or a large go-cart to have fun with if I sell my LST? I'm just getting tired of nitro.

ctwitty, you gotta ask yourself
can your LST do this from a standing start at the bottom of a hill?
does your LST idle reliably all the time, everytime?
can your LST run for over half an hour on a tank of gas?
and lastly, does your LST owe you over $3000.00 worth of fun
