Default Bolt sizes!?

Hi all

Can some please explain the sizes that bolts are measured in..

I need a 4mm (width) x 14mm (length) bolt, but ive looked about & most places they are measured as "M4" or "M5" etc ?

Also whats the best method of making sure the nut wont come loose, im going to use Ny-loc nuts but anything else you guys recommend might help?

The M4 or M5 denotes thread diameter in millimeters so a M4 is 4mm a M5 is 5mm...locktite will keep the nuts on...red is strongest...blue slightly weaker

i guess you just need to find out how long that bolt is. you could always cut what you don't need

Also remember, there is a difference between a bolt and a screw. So make sure you get the right one.

A screw has thread all the way on it.

A bolt has thread just down the bottom.

Just thought I'd mention that.
