HPI Baja 5B with and AM radio???
I am looking at a used Baja with 4 tanks ran through it that and looks to be in perfect shape except it comes with an HPI TF-3 AM radio. Doesn't the Baja come with the HPI TF-10 FM radio? Why would this one have this radio setup? How well will it work or is AM a bad idea with gasoline cars?
Also if you guys were gonna buy a new off road giant scale and it were between the HPI Baja 5B and the Duratrax Firehammer MT, which would you buy?

I think you should ask the seller why the radio change which to me seems questionable and the Baja 5B in my opinion is the better choice. [8D]

I did ask him why the radio is different, but he is a consignment dealer and just says that is the radio in the buggy and it is not a mistake in the listing. I thought maybe they made a mistake when they listed it, but I guess not. The TF-3 is the radio HPI puts in their other RTR's like the Savage. I can't imagine why anyone would change to this radio...

If you are not comfortable with it forget about it because there will be
other deals or just buy a new one. I have seen them on E-bay for as
low as $855.00 brand new in box and www.amainhobbies.com has them
for i think $949.00.

By the way he is asking $799 OBO for the Baja plus $50 shipping, and told me to make an offer for it minus this radio. What do you think would be a fair offer, or am I better off just buying new from Tower for $929 after the $20 off code?...

I'm thinking the guy selling this probably also has a Savage which comes with the AM radio. Then he decided to sell the Baja and stick with the smaller stuff, so he swapped the Baja's FM radio with the AM and now has a better radio for his Savage, or whatever he may have...Anyway, I got it for $700 plus shipping minus that AM radio. Seems like a good price for a Baja in near new condition, plus it has the X-Can already, pre-fliter and lightened flywheel. Depending on the price, I may buy a Spektrum DX2 or 3 from this seller also...Can't wait to get it...Didn't take too long for me to get back into large scale. I sold my FG Monster Beetle a few months ago, and have been messing with 1/10 scale and helis since. While both are fun, nothing like a 1/5 scale.

Not a good enough deal for used. Go to DDM and use the discount code for 5% off. That will be at $920.55 shipped to your door. Brand new, with no one elses problems.

Thanks Cyclops...I knew once I sold that shiny, alloy MB, I'd end up back in the 1/5 scene soon. Good to be back in giant scale and RCU.
