Humm u might started something here . I know quite a few guys that have on-road 5th scalers. We used to run at Floyd Bennet Field. Tried to get a 5th scale club going but the 8th & 10 scalers squeezed us out. Not to mention they had the backing of the LHS ! ! ! ! ! So we kinda ventured into other aspects of Rc such a 5th scale off-road & some of us went into helis ! I went to ur web site and checked out the place u guys are running at. Seems like u need some 5th scales on that track (lol) ........ So I'll pass the word around to the other 5th scale guys I know and see what I come up with. Will let ya know. BTW, know anyone interested in maybe trading an on-road 5th scale for my 5th scale off-road???

Don't know anyone looking to swap an on for an off road. I'll ask around though. But back to the track, we are currently in discussions with the owner of a perfect lot to set up a permanent or at least a semi-permanent track on the island. Here's a link to an aerial shot of the lot http://lihobbyinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=130 . It's about 250 by 250, with NO line markings whatsoever. It's very flat and smooth. It's been there for about 10 yrs and NEVER been used! We need more racers(5th scale[8D]), so spread the word. It looks very promising.

I just dusted off my technokit and will probably be heading out this sunday to run it.... Been playing shelf queen for the last 2 years....

I have a school yard behind me and have been contemplating getting a large scale off road car/truck....

Are you bringing your technokit to the station on Sun? It would be nice to have more 5th scales running.

I think the batteries are 700mah so about .7 amps... Stay under and amp and you're fine... Remember it's only 4.8 volts...

There are 3 Versions... the JR, the E and the EL... The E and the EL are the same car and the difference lies in the option parts, the E has all aluminum.... The JR is what that XRC car is a knock off of...

According to Weather.com it's going to be 76 and sunny... Hopefully not as humid as today....

Ok, for tires I have the ones on the car.. A pair of what I think are GRP D's... then a set of GRP S2's and S3's which are both supposed to be rear tires... Dunno... Just might run the S2"s in the rear and S3's in front.... Anything has to be better than what's on the car, they are shot...

Fixed the body, just need to put longer screws in the body mounts and I'm set...

Beautifull weather on Sun. Just hope your tires hold up! If you're gonna order another set, let me know. We'll place the order together, save on shipping! My tires aren't going to last much longer.

I'm going to see how the tires I have work out first before I blow more money I don't have....

Trying to find a good source for body clips... Lowes was sold all out, they had 1 package of what looked like the right size but someone stole 1 out of the package of 2...

I don't even know what to get for tires... problem is it's going to get hot soon...

The best way from Brooklyn would be the Belt to SSP... Get off at Sunrise Hwy East... Keep going till you come to Lakeland Ave (unsure of exit #) Make a left on lakeland, (head North) After you cross Vets Highway (454) you'll come to a fork along the airport... Bear right at the fork, (Smithtown Ave) pass along the airport and hangars and there should be an entrance along the right for the LIRR parking lot...

(edit)
Just drove that way a little while ago and there's a sign for the LIRR commuter parking... You can't miss everyone, they are right on that corner...

Pokerpete, You made a good decision! [8D] We have a blast every Sun. Visit this site, there are pics and video from every Sun. Lots of 5th, 8th and 10th scale stuff. http://www.limodelracers.org/ We're trying to spread the word to drum up more interest in the 5th scales and it looks like it's beginning to work. Trust me, come down when you can, the ride will be well worth it!

P.S. when yor car arrives, if you have any questions PM me or vtl1180ny. We'd be happy to help. By the way, which body did you get?
