Default Blew up my rear end !

Wehalp, I always say I run my truck hard, and I fully know the meaning of the word "BASH" ( small- HURRRR-ZING there.... ) and today after filming about 2 hours worth of time in the past weekor two, and had a catastrophic meltdown culminating in the end result of a leaking head gasket, pulled loose the upright pins from the hubs, tweeked the chassis another few degrees, and sheared off a few mount pins fron the chassis roll cage in some rough and tumble play that was entirely enjoyable, but devestating to the running status to my FGMT..............

I'M ALL SMILES

Pics and upload of videos later, right now, I need to go play with a ladyfriend

* We have matching RC-10 B4's with freshly painted car bodies that match

so nice havig a geeky hobby and a GF who loves it/ me for it, and wants to play along too [8D]

Yes actually that "kind" of running is very hard on the engine, high RPM's, tall grass, long periods of WOT ( wide open throtle), yep it doesn't suprize me that something went bad That being said, it still makes me feel sad for your pocket book.

Cyclops, not sure if a screw came loose, but the powertrain runs all the way to the dif, and will turn one tire, and the dif still "works" , but there is no power transfer to forward motion. I need to take it apart and look at it for sure, but there is no visualy broken pieces from what I can tell.

BuggZy, that is just a small clip of what I was doing. I need to edit a bit and splice togeher some scenes. I'm looking for a good "FREE" to download software that I can use to do that with as the software I have now kinda sux.

Hey Dave, I use windows movie maker, works like a charm for me and its free.

Dont worry, i know long wot runs are hard on the motor, still i wonder what happened, i was going to think also about a grub screw comming loose.
if its an internal gear the diff would have probably locked up or something much noisier i think. Mybe a drive cup broke inside the diff where it grabs on to the gear, that has happened on my mt5.just pull it out and chek to see.

Im sure you'll get it figured out, i took mine to a nirt track for nitro's taday and broke my alloy upright... dont buy any alloy uprights that are made by FG.. they SUCK for reliability [:@] i should have gotten the Crazy nut racing hubs. anyway, maybe one of your spider gears are grinded down, happened to me on the marder and it resulted to what happend to you.. noise but no movement. it's something simple

I am having the same issue with mine right now too. It makes an awful clicking sound. I see no broken parts either. I do have a new alum diff for it so I am going to put it in and see if thats the problem.

FGM, Minor sticker differences on the rear wing sides, and usualy I'm driving a lot faster

here is the precursor to the let go of the dif minus a few minutes of footage.

Yea, well if it is your diff i'd recomend the adjustable alloy diff. I have it in my truck and it works out great! adjustable for any terrian you want to run on. also allows you to lock the rear wheel positive traction. I have this one in my truck...
My marder just has a normal Alloy diff. but traction sucks with it around corners since it always one wheel getting most of the power... you'll get going again in no time

HA ! drive cups.

I blew one out as the first thing to bust on my truck a while ago. If you have the dogbone outdrives, You should upgrade to the ball drive ones. They still break ( as my truck proof of that) but far stronger than stock.

yeah Aloy dif is in the future for sure any way. I saw a locking one with worm gears in it, I may get that one as there is 2 teeth in constant contact instead of the standard planetary gear and orbit gears.

Am I missing something or is the part of the video's containing the bashing missing? All I saw was some minor running around in grass.
Neat truck though, sucks it broke so easy.

Badz, the FG trucks don't really break so easily, Don't let the video fool you, It has well over 4 gallons of gas ran through my truck so far to date. I edited the 15 minute video down to the best 3 minutes or so of it as some was just driving around on the high banks and fairly boring to watch. I have more, so no worries
As was stated earlier, running wide open at 45 mph and in grass is quite rough on the engines and rest of the truck. the video does not do justice for how much ground the truck is covering in a very short amount of time. The uneven ground and constant changes in traction put a lot of strain on the drivetrain. Approximately 50 hours or so on the same dif with how I drive it..........
I'm more than pleased

EDIT: here is earlier in the week when I snapped a tierod picking on a on a pinetree that managed to just get in my way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WDbCBL-4iE

Time to tear it apart and see "Whats up".

pics to follow.

its not a 'blown' diff. it'll be a loose drive square, layshaft gear, pinion or spur.outside chance its the clutch but i doubt it.
