Remote ignition kill switch help
Hi,
I just installed the remote ignition kill switch in my FG MT, according to your experience do you know if I can put the kill switch (the “brain” - yellow pack) together with the receiver in the receiver box? Or it might cause to interference and should be outside of the receiver box, separated from the receiver?
Thanks,
Tom

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
Hi John,
Finally someone could help me ,I guess most of the guys here don’t use this remote kill switches but after my last accident I had to buy one!
Anyway, if it works well for you then I will give it a try, I just didn’t want to face some interferences…
Thank you!

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
ok here's the Deal.
Diemaster is making a kill switch from a pico switch and it will do anything you want it to do as far as killing the engine.
turn off tx engine dies
turn off rx engine dies
remove tx batt engine dies
broken wire engine dies
Baja get out of range engine dies
engine can be killed from trim switch on tx
if you are running wide open and your throttle servo dies in wide open throttle you can kill the engine by turning the tx off or useing the trim swiotch and that will kill the engine.
one word of caution though
you must have the tx and rx turned on otherwise you will never get the engine started.
i shut my engine off one day useing the trim switch and didn't reset the trim switch and i could not figure out why the engine wouldn't start.
once i re set the trim switch it started right up.
the radio i am useing is the m11 with airtronics 2.4 gig modgule and rx.
this kill switch will not work with a two channel radio the radio has to be three or four channels.
DDM is suppose to be getting some of theese Diemaster pico kill switches in maby sometime next week
i highley recomend them
i have been useing theese for over a month now and they work flawlessly.
i got the first two that Diemaster made and they are worth every penny i spent on them
this should be the very first hop up that anybody gets for there Baja along with a good three channel radio
any questions e mail me at
dwilkinson911@yahoo .com
thx Don

The pico switch is fitted in the bottom left hand corner held in place with hot glue.
from a different angle you can see that i have drilled a small hole in the box this is so that you can see the light status when you need to
Here you can see the light hole and the light is lit (green)

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
Thank you gunner221! This is exactly how I installed mine today, I hope I won’t face any radio interferences, if to be honest, I also asked FG’s technicians for the same question and they told me not to put them together (receiver + kill switch), I was a bit skeptic and that’s why I wanted to see if this works in other cars.
I guess if it works for you than I should face no issues... [sm=teeth_smile.gif]
Thanks for the pics!

Hey tom111, mind if I ask where you got the kill switch from, and will that one work with a 2 ch radio. I'm just looking to kill the motor by turning off the tx in case a servo goes out on me. Any help would be great, thanks

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
Hi,
I got it here:
http://bcmaengines.com/Accessories.htm
but it will for sure won’t work with a 2 channel receiver, those kill switches needs their own channel (usually the 3rd channel), they are connected to the receiver with the same plug the servo has, so if you have only 2 channels you just don’t have place for that.

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
also the switch will have to be conected to the kill switch that is on the motor.
i disconected both the kill switches that are on the engines in both of my Baja's
i can kill the engine from the tx nomatter where the Baja is.
thx Dirby
this only works with 3 or 4 channel radios two channel will not work

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
I did the same setup but I left the manual kill switch on, incase of “electronic malfunction” I can kill the engine in the “old way”.

if you get any kind of an electrical malfunction the motor id going to quit nomatter what happens,
Dirby
where as if you leave the kill switch that is on the engine hooked up and the wire drom the rx to the kill switch comes un pluged or btakes than the only way you will be able to kill the engine is to use the one on the engine.
now if that switch is disconected the engine will die if anything happens.
Does this make sense to you?
Dirby
this was brought to my attention by Diemaster who made theese two switches for me

RE: Remote ignition kill switch help
Sorry but I’m not convinced [sm=confused.gif] lets take a case where you don’t have a remote ignition kill switch & you don’t have the manual kill switch – in fact you don’t have a kill switch at all, according to what you say the engine will die and won’t work, but that is not the case, it will work without a kill switch connected, you just won’t have a way to kill it.
The manual kill switch when is not pressed, is doing absolutely nothing, that’s why I prefer to have them both.
