RE: Smartech 4x4 NEW Thunderbolt buggy video
Doesnt it brake on the front wheels?, on the last video it brakes like a rwd, the rear slides out. I have seen the 4wd MCD's brake, they stop almost instantly, with no rear slide.
I'm still looking forward to hearing the engine nicely tuned -)

Hellya: Looks like the plastics are pretty tough. It took a pretty good hit on the fence from that " glitch " in your video. Engine also sounded much better then on your first video. Did you just play with the needles to extract the extra power? Can you take few more close ups of the buggy?

Yes, that's a really good idea. Use a pin through the shaft and cup, and a setscrew to grip the pin, rather than relying on a setscrew to grip the shaft. That will be a far more durable setup.

Wow even with pipe it's a dog. No offense, but it looks like it needs some more power. What motor is in that again.

Hmmm.....I would think they might sell abit better with a quality powerplant. I know when i bought my fg a few years ago everyone wanted one with a zenoah, but alot came with a cy. The cy's have proved to be not bad, but i like the zenoah quality.

It's an RTR, not an ARTR or a kit. That's the thing. When have you ever seen an RTR of any kind (electric/nitro/gas, whatever) supplied with a racing engine. Basically, it's a mess around engine, probably makes good torque. Run it into the ground then buy a better one, just like you would with any RTR.

That's true, but i would pay a bit more for quality motor. But to keep cost down, the average consumer would buy, and upgrade later. It seems to be the norm. Come on foxy, i am looking forward to your review to.

I have messed with the needles believe you me ......... I think the 4x4 set up and the 28cc engine is more torque than topend
I bet if I took the 23 cc from my KM Baja and stuck it in there it would move....23s always have more top end
I know how to tune a engine Baja went from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1zUMuMkbDQ

hellya one simple and low cost improvement is to replace the standard clutch spring with a high response one - the red HPI one or similar. You will find that the engine no longer struggles to get the buggy moving from a standing start or out of low speed turns.

springs on the way ....I wanted to run the vehicle stock from Smartech and then start modding
Figure breakin with their exhaust, switched to a hpi can gutted, ( had it on hand) then switched to the titan pipe ( donated from a friend)
clutch spring (purchased monday)...then I'm going to switch out motors before the races here on the 27th
