Are the differentials not packed with grease? Why they shreaking like that? or that is the disc brakes?

What I believe they did was reversing the bolts and the bolt heads are behind the flywheel going into the clutch houing...its not 1 piece
ORIGINAL: fourwheeler
Is the clutch housing in the same casting as the motor half? What I mean is it integral with the side of the engine?

So you have to split the motor case to get the clutch housing off?

Yep, thats what its looks like, you would be removing the flywheel and then you have access to those bolts...its like 2 halfs

I don't know if I like that idea....I have seen engines with the clutch case cracked or one corner broken off. With this design you would have to replace the engine case.

It appears to handle well. An elcon adj. clutch would help with that low end bog. It seems, as far as chassis, suspension and drive train goes, they might have a winner here. The stock motor would have to go in favor of a Zen 260 IMO. It would be really nice if we could get these cars without the motors and electronics. Most people would change these anyway.

Did EPA work on your throttle?
Mine must have been built on a Friday... Back screws completely missing on the throttle servo, no clips on the front of the electronics compartment, and no wing in the box.
Also, the throttle EPA doesn't seem to work. It's almost like a wire is crossed with the trim. It furthers out the end point, but it changes the servo position as well.
I really want to run it in stock form, but I don't feel that I can trust the stock RX/TX. Smartech, you should really consider selling it ARTR (no radio), or outsource a decent system.
On the positive, the stock servos seem pretty decent...both are metal gear. The failsafe seems to function well. The included battery was marked as 1800mah, but took closer to 2300 (just luck of the draw with cheap cells). Overall, much better quality control than FS, and lots of metal on this rig.
I'll drop in a Nomadio receiver and get some drive time next weekend. Hopefully, the wing will be here by then.
There is no doubt that this is a good unit. My biggest concern at the moment is price point. With Redcat/Pro-Spec and FS at around $1000, it will difficult to make a major impact in the market at anything more than that. Include a DX2, then possibly... Hit the market hard and fast, and take less margin if necessary. HPI and others will be quick to the 4x4 scene when it takes off.

My battery took 1500 after 2 cycles. I expect with more cycles I'll get it up a bit more. It lasted a good hour and a half constant running, and still had plenty of juice.
Hellya, did you notice that torquing down the wheels caused the square to move on the shaft and bind with the hub? Mine does, maybe it needs a washer.

RE: Smartech 4x4 NEW Thunderbolt buggy video
so heres a short video of the new engine and new pipe
.......................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51qFMjk3u4w
towards the end of this one, the front tire ballons up gets really skinny
............................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WnixdmKdVA
I was looking at the rear dog bones.... looks like they added some round ruber/silicone spacers inside the output cup.....its like using a piece of cork or a spring

RE: Smartech 4x4 NEW Thunderbolt buggy video
the aluminum diff conversion is a little wider than the plastic one. which removes some of the space between the bone and outdrive

Mine didn't have any spacers in the diff outdrives. [] Definitely needs them. DIABLOTAC78 had to go searching for one of my bones and it's corresponding outdrive. I used fuel tubing temporarily.
