baja5b front bakes
how do these work and what do i need to modify to put them on. what i want to do is have the front brakes turn on with a flick of the 3rd channel switch on my dx3r and then still be able to accelerate to do burnouts lol , does it need to run on a seperate servo for front brakes ?

RE: baja5b front bakes
As you know there's no room for a third servo in the baja, so unless you disconnect your rear brakes, no burnouts. The linkage attaches to the regular throttle arm and works in conjunction with the rear brakes. There will be instructions with the kit, but for operating both brakes at once, I would recommend upgrading to a very strong servo (200oz-in plus)

If you are running Dark Soul or Vertigo Performance front extenders you will need to purchase the brake adapters each of us offer for our extenders.

Vert is correct if you have (at least for mine) the original version, there are adapters available for the rotors. The new DS version which should be available from the usual suspects towards the end of next week will have the hexes built in-

RE: baja5b front bakes
so your all saying that what i want to do is impossible because it works off the only one throttle brake servo it has now ?
i been trying to buy the darksoul front extenders for a long time now but they been on back order well to me seems like forever . ive been looking at the vertigo front extenders but im confused to how these would work as they are just a single pin with no hex , but darksouls version is very clear to me

For the older extenders, you need to buy this hex adapter, as shown here.

RE: baja5b front bakes
Vertigo Front axles are adjustable and because of this chose to have the end user make use of parts they have sitting in their kits.
Stock width or overall 16mm wider (8mm each side) It made more sense since everyone are running rear extenders that it would be redundant to include them with front extender sets at an unnecessary added cost. Instead we included spacers so you can adjust the track for better tuning of the buggy. As well the design of the VP means no more lost front bearings since they are secured to the axle and cannot fall off as well they are tapped for those wanting to retain them with screws instead of Clips.
Talk to Mike at Powerslide, he can answer any questions for the Australian modelers as well as put you in touch with a LHS in your area.

RE: baja5b front bakes
Vert is correct, in the past we were only offering the extenders as complete sets (front and rear) or rear only, so if you already had a set of rears, you were sort of stuck with having to buy a whole new set. splcrazy, it does seem like we have been out of them forever (trust me, it seems way longer to me [:@]), just too many irons in the fire, but we are back on them, and expecting our new revised extenders to be available by the end of this coming week. We will be offering them as a complete set (front and rear), rear only and front only.
Also, we have gone a little different direction for bearing retention, and have tried to kill 2 birds with one stone. We have a "c-clip eliminator kit", which will of course elimate the c-clips, and since the axle will no longer be able to pop off, you obviously cannot lose any bearings.
This kit is a stand alone product, and it does have it's pros and cons. The pros, are that you get rid of the c-clip and will not have to worry about losing a front axle from hard bashing, or in my case, smacking the boards too often at the "auto cross" races we hold. The "con" is that since the axle can no longer come off, you run the risk of bending/breaking something else, so this is a product each person will have to decide for themselves if it will benefit or hinder them.
The edges will be a bit more rounded on the side opposite the bearing. This was just a quick rendering so you can see what we are up too.

RE: baja5b front bakes
yeah but it would look better doing it the normal burnout way which was the original reason for starting this thread but its become off topic with axle extenders for some reason LOL
Your right, it has gone off topic, Vertigo had some very valid points, and at least on my end (DarkSoul), just wanted to update, sorry about derailing.

RE: baja5b front bakes
I wanna say that I have seen this before, Maybe it was the Elcon setup that uses a third servo. Might want to check them out, I think DDM is the importer now for Elcon.

RE: baja5b front bakes
Third servo braking has been done for the baja, about two years ago. I developed a servo mount. I am refining it at the moment for production.
