Default SV Speedway CLOSING by August 23rd 2008

Just got the word the property owner gave Marvin and Richard until August 23rd to clear out of SV Speedway. Closing of one of the largest R/C car tracks in the USA.One designed for large scale RC host of the 2003 IFMAR 1:5 scale worlds will be but another track memory soon. Bummer.

I own two of the shipping containers out there (the white ones) that were used for on-road race control both are set up as offices if you want a deal on one or both let me know [email protected]

So bummed to hear about this. I have only been out there a few times, but it's the loss of another track that sucks for this hobby.

I can’t believe that this post has only two replays. That sucks. If we want the 1/5 hobby to keep growing in the USA something needs to be done.
We can’t just have race tracks closing, sorry I guess its frustrating for me, that I Have to travel over 180 miles just to race my 1/5 scale.
Bashing is fun an all, however there’s noting like racing in a track.
Its really sorry to see it go.

That is bad []

Can't they just move it to another location nearby?

If it was only that easy! Real estate is too valuable here in Ca. nowadays. R/C tracks don't pay the bills like a shopping mall can! ( not that I think a shopping mall is going in that neighborhood)

It is for sure. The property owner has no plans of letting a new person run it. They have had it with Marvin and Richard not fixing the place up. That is what got them kicked out, not making the place look nice. Sad its 100% on the heads of the track operators.

It is sad to see it go. But racing will not just be in small parking lots running brushless minis. This track opened up only a few months ago and they are having some great turnouts on races. It's in Riverside CA and GBE and HPI are sponsors. http://www.milestonemx.com/ This is the location for the upcoming Baja Nationals in November http://www.hpiracing.com/news/2008070702/
In the Bay area they have on road races somewhere I heard. But yeah it's sad to see this track go.

RAMS Club now has a new class for the Baja.
We have now run 3 AutoCross races there with great success.
This Sunday will be our 3rd one for the year.
Its a road course with jumps and obstacles. KICK IN THE PANTS!

Come Join us. We are getting close to 10 entries in this class along with the normal onroad 5th scale classes.

If I had your wallet, I'd throw mine away! j/k Jeff, I know what you mean, I am looking very hard at property to get a track going out here. I really want to see racing do well. I think it's important.

I guess point being that parking lot tracks here in CA seem to be the only economically feasible way to have onroad racing for 5th scale. I truly feel sorry for the owners of the track and the issues they have endured trying to keep it going.

Maybe Carlton should put his container on a tailor, invest in some track boards, and use it as a mobile race setup. The top of the container would make a great drivers stand. The RAMS Club up here as a similar setup. Given his experience in 5th scale promotions, it should go over real well.

Moving a shipping container as a mobile race set up is silly to say the least.

They are being moved into storage for now. Riverside did not want them so... I will just store them until someone needs a trick race set up.
