was time to tackle the axle.......
the pocket quad axle was too short so i had to build one from scratch using a 1/2 inch bright bar

getting the stud pattern from the gokart rims

transfering to 8mm thick steel (scrap)

drilling out stud and axle holes

using magnets to keep everything true...

cutting 1/2 inch thread on bright bar.... (tip; always use cutting fluid...saves your cutting edges and make the job alittle easier)

M8 bolts are used as wheel studs

attached to the wheel (shock horror!!!!! it fit!!!!!!!)

axle screwed in

studs and axle all bolted up

checking for trueness and its not too bad!!!! (very unusualy)

next to little bro 5b

welded on rear sprocket and brake disc carrier that was cut off the original pocket quad axle

next step is rear shocks... might need 2 aside on the rear so 4 rear shocks....(should look pretty cool )

and then onto the throttle/brake linkage... i have a 1/4 scale servo boasting 30kg (im weary on that but it is powerful) that im using for the throttle and 3 disc brakes (two front and 1 rear).......

That build looks awesome! and for only $15 USD for wheels, I wouldnt complain if they are both left-handers too! (And if that $15 is $15 AUD, even better!)

I know it's been a month, but if you already fired it up and have a vid fo it running about, please post!

cheers guys
havent done alot in the last month due to xmas , work break up etc but i have finished and mounted the rear shocks, and shorten the chain and got a joiner link... can you believe no-one in oz had this link!!!!! had to get them shipped over from usa... postage cost more than the links!!! lol

anyhoo yes i fired her up yesterday accually... didnt drive it though.. man shes loud and doesnt rev as hard as the zen/cy engines does but she must have some torque if its designed to carry 80kg

will be finishing the brake servo tomorrow then mount the throttle servo, then over the next couple weeks mount the batt and fuel tank, test the electronics then take her out for a test run

That is sweet looks like a go cart turned into an r/c. lol makes the baja 5b look small, and I've seen a 5b in action and they are huge.[8D]

over $300aus for a smallest tone servo (050)

$770aus for the bigger one to be safe

OR

$70aus to build ya own thats as if not more powerful than the bigger tone ????

a simple decision for me

(plus my knowege of servos has gone from 0 to just a little more than 0 )

A Tone 105 servo is The biggest you can get. Plenty of power @12 volts(5000 oz. Loose the weight and you can use a Tone o50. I do on another application no problem. Weight is you biggest enemy. I built a 1/4 scale buggy for $250 and it uses a 220 oz servo for steering. I never pay retail for my stuff. 50% or less. Free is the best.

until you show us some more proof of your "bugget" buggy, i think it is wrong to give any advice or comments about 1/4 rc vehicles. i took a good look at that little picture you posted and i don't even see a driveline. i think you just took a 1/5 rc, gutted the stuff out for the photo and jut set a 30cc engine in the middle of it. YOU ARE FULL OF IT! why else would you not want to disclose any more information about it? someone who actually did what you did would be eager to show details and vids.

BTW; "bugget" means "butt nugget" in the urban dictionary. i'm afraid to look up orginator. [sm=lol.gif]

this post is not meant to bash you or anything but i think we would ALL like to see some better pictures. we are all interested if you actually did it and what you used and how you did it. if you don't want people taking your idea, just leave small portions of information out.

also, that has got to be the best home build i've seen yet! that buggy is AMAZING. that thing is insane. i thought my km baja (5b clone) was big. you could RIDE that thing.
