*UPDATE*

a bit of a set back today...... the main power supply tracks on the two h-bridge boards, blew!!!!!
both of them in the same place!!!! which leads me to believe its a manufacturing fault!!!
however i soldered a thick wire from the mainpower supply straight to the middle pin of the mosfet (bypassed the boards tracks)

anyhoo it was working again then all of a sudden one of the volt regs fried!!! killing the boards all together!!!!!
i was never happy with these boards coz they are built for a variety of uses

i dont know much about elecs so i wanted one that is purpose built for what im doing!!

and i found one
ive ordered two of them and will try them when they get here
servo driver, volt reg, feedback pot, h-bridge ALL on one board
NO hacking a servo for the driver and FB pot

will let ya know how it goes

Don't you mean "to within half a millimeter of its life"?

All I can say is WOW!!!!!
Bloody great job mate, i love what youve done with the gas struts, thats real ingenuity.
I`ve seen a few folks on this forum saying they have done the greatest low budget jobs out there but never show proof, i cant believe any of them. You on the other hand show more proof than needed and keep showing more.
Gives me more inspiration to get started on my own plans...
I reckon we should do a bumper sticker for these things,     BUILT NOT BOUGHT!
Looking forward to more pics mate
Cheers
Troppo

cheers guys

abhishek564- its about 1100mm long by 700mm wide.... from the pics you can use "visual perspective" to work the rest out... i have no measurments written down LOL
it was all worked out as i went along.... the shocks are made from gas struts.. still abit to do to them to make them work properly

Troppo- cheers for the kind words man... yes building something yourself most deffinately has more pride factor.. the servos are doing my head in but its almost there
ive been told wipermotor servos dont work well ... they obviously have persisted enough.. these arent precision race cars so a wipermotor servo is perfect...
and if it works, itll be a fraction of the cost of a tone050 servo....

I'm very familiar with those moments.

Still, it always leads to something positive.

First let me say that this is a pretty cool build up and I also have some questions....

How did you get the receiver box to run off 12volts or did you step down the power?

Are you utilizing the high speed setting the wiper motor is capable of delivering?

Have you been able to whip up a wiring schematic on a program like microsoft paint for the servo setup?

How heavy is your setup in pounds?

Have you contemplated using a 12volt cordless drill to power the steering?////////
