Depends on many things... what car is it for (will determine orientation, size and shape of cells), depends how many and what kind of servos you are running, depends what kind of batteries you are capable of charging, depends on budget and how often you run the car...
Example...
You run FG... You have a multiplex rhino on steering and a similarly juicy throttle servo, like an ACE DS1015... OK, then you need a flat pack, 6v, 3000mAh or more with a deans connector. How much do you want to spend? Get the most mAh you can afford, or can reasonably charge... this is an important factor, as it pisses me off intensely when I need to fully charge the one 4500 pack I have. TAKES FOREVER!! So I only buy 3000mAh packs from now on, because I like to charge them low (3A or less) and I don't want it to take more than an hour (they still last more than one good bash session). Can you charge li-pos? Then you could consider a 2S (7.4v) lipo and a regulator.
Basically, with 1/5th there's no difference in this respect from nitro. The same batteries are good, ours are just bigger and longer lasting. Don't waste money on racing pack cells, cheapo unmatched ones are fine for radio/servo.

I was just curious to see which brands people are using.
I have a couple old 1200 receiver Nimh's that run my boat and I feel they are just not enough for the 1/4 scale servo application.

Hi Guys
I used NICAD batteries for my receiver and it works fine.
Quick question concerning NICAD batteries:
Someone was telling me that NICAD batteries have to be completely discharge before recharging for durability of the battery because of memory effect or something like that. Is that correct? Can anybody explain?
Thanks
JC

NICAD bats were great in there day and i feel that the new NiMh bats are not as good on some levels.
Either way I would not run NICADS in the receiver application cause of there memory probems.
But if you are running them and having luck that is cool.
I am going to try a different battery in the boat cause I don't want to buy a 200 dollar radio if a higher mah battery will fix the problem.
So far the JR XS radio in my Baja 5T seems great.
I will throw the fail safe in it soon cause it finally arrived back at my house last weekend.
My buddy had it in his boat.

I want to ,ake my own too, I have an idea on how to do it, but not the practical procedural knolwedge. I will mostlike cook the cells and destroy the pack if I try it w/o lnowing the proper procedure.
