what i would like to see is an inline 4 4stroke big bang motor about 100cc...I'm a huge motogp addict and yamaha getting 240HP out of an 880, with the torque of a V config and have it ultra reliable is an engineering marvel
I was fantasizing about a twin 2 stroke for my upcoming formula offroad jeep tube chassis build but a big bang inline 4 would be the ticket....i can only dream of an engine like that and of course winning the lottery so i could afford one
You know its funny when I think about this, I drive a Honda S2000, well known for being the most powerful naturally aspirated 'car' engine for years (it's actually just been surpassed), and that makes 125bhp per liter, yet these little bike engines rape it through the higher rev ranges, and use a DAMN sight less fuel to do it too. Not to mention of course that 240hp in a 1250kg car is enough for me! Go figure.

I guess you guys have seen the Hayabusa powered Smarts and mk1 Golfs? Particularly the mk1 golfs are awesome (I hate smarts). Unbelievable seeing a mk1 golf rev to 16k or whatever the upper limit is on those things. If you youtube 'turbo Hayabusa golf' it's worth a watch. 700kilo car with 350hp through the REAR wheels (someone went to a lot of effort to make it work, and boy does it work), it's got better power to weight than a Veyron (once it gets up to the higher rev ranges).

Honda S2000? Dude you gotta get a big boy car

Yea, Yankee made a B30 twin 15cc engine. They made very few of them and even fewer were put in cars. About 3 I know of. Here is a link to one running http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iSv7bBCz7c

The Tax on a car bigger than a 2 Liter would be rediculous in Greece.

Its a rotary, therefore classified at the capacity of both theoretical combustion chambers. ie It's classed as a 2.6 for racing, and was entered in the 2.6l category for all the engine awards it won.

Anyway, apples to oranges, I wouldn't own a rotary (in their current state of technology) if you paid me to daily drive it. The technology is sound, they just need to make it more economical and reliable.

The S2000 makes more power than the renesis and uses less fuel doing so. End of.

lol. I won't dignify that with a response. Actually, yes I will.

What could be more manly than a car that kills people who can't drive on a daily basis?

Driven one? If not, you should, honestly. People who trade up from the S to Lamborghinis and Porsches etc, usually keep the S, because nothing else drives quite like it.

Anywya, I wish I could have a Corvette here (or something similarly untaxing on the skills to drive fast), they're so cheap and nasty I could actually afford to buy and run one, it's the tax I wouldn't be able to handle. My road tax would go from 400 bucks a year to 2000!!

As I mentioned in previous post.... big bang 4 cylinder, want the top hp/L figure....er how's 272bhp per litre sound nothing else comes close ( except top fuel at 875hp/L[X(]) ...the 880 bike engine is rated at at least 240...motogp riders have big, big kahunas.

Foxy take the corvette off your wish list, they are plastic garbage... apparently they finally got it close to being decent with the C6. I've driven just about every model made apart from the C6 and they were all crap, want a fun American muscle car buy an older viper, no electronic rubbish and just a blast to drive, rear tires only last a couple of hours on an aerodrome though

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the Corvette was doing great this year in the road racing here in the states. I am only into F1 racing but have a friend that that told me they where kicking butt in the class they run this year.

Race results aren't everything guys, especially if you are a car enthusiast, there's a lot more to love about the Viper. I agree with mooman myself, but it depends what you want from a car. The vette is softer and easier to drive fast, the Viper will kill you the second you show it the slightest disrespect. By the same token, there are a few cars faster than my S for around the same price, but I wouldn't swap the S2k for any of 'em, and none of them 'feel' like the S to drive.

Except character. They're both great cars, and it's a good comparison, but what it comes down to is what you want. All this stuff is purely subjective. Also it doesn't hurt to wander off topic occasioanlly, but yeh, this is getting a bit on the extreme off topic side! Oh well, never mind.

Back to topic? lol...

well off topic but I must reply
you have all missed the point, firstly the vette you buy off the lot only has it's body shape in common with the race car nothing else is related to the street car.. the race car is tube chassis, completely different motor, suspension, brakes and on and on. The last C5 road car i drove round a track was pathetic in the handling department, as soon as you clicked off the traction control to try and have some fun it became a spinning top...very difficult to powerslide and would just spin off the track...handles like a brick on marbles, the viper i drove could powerslide all day at crazy speeds, a quick flick in the corners and it was smoke time. In my experience the viper was way, way more fun to drive.

Yes the new ZR1 C6 is a way better car than previous models and will probably beat a viper and seeing as the vette now handles better it's probably more fun to drive.

Older vettes look nice but drive rubbish...sorry it's my IMO but I've driven every model from a 57 to the C5.

Thing is if I had the money I'd buy neither...I'd save a bit more and buy a real car...Aston Martin DB9

I'm not denying the corvette GT1 race car was very good, it won le mans again this year, now GT1 and GT12 have been joined the F430 is the car to beat, however I've been talking road cars and seeing as I've driven them round a circuit and have compared them to other sports cars i feel qualified to comment and i stand by everything I've written and 99% of non US journos agree with me...nuff said

I know the corvette is THE American sports car and you guys get all clucky and defensive if someone bad mouths them but until the C6 ZR1 model road car came along the corvette was severly lacking.

The caddy is a good car, surprisingly good, and clocked faster round the Nurenburg ring than a 911 which is impressive...definitely a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Any how back to the topic, wonder how easy would it be, or not, to tune one of Zens aircraft twins for cars [link]http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ZENE80T[/link]

I'm leaving the vette thing alone now, said all i have to say.
To the zen twin, it's an aircraft motor and revs slow and all but i'm just wondering if it coulldn't be tweaked some and well piped to be a torque monster...I'm sure a few thousand more rpm could be had, it knocks out 6hp ,supposedly, stock) imagine if you could get around the 10hp mark with huge torque, be pretty damn cool
