Yeah thats wicked sick. But I feel really bad for the guy after he lost all the molds for his original V8 and his Viper V10 engine. Which was sold for 250k btw.

RE: The real deal
Just engine with out blower $5,695.00
Options
Exhaust manifolds, cast in 303 stainless steel......................$ 279.00
Exhaust manifolds, cast in 303 stainless steel - polished ....$ 559.00
Painted Valve covers and intake manifold.............................$ 125.00
Supercharger installed and tested..........................................$1 ,695.00
High duration camshaft (installed at factory only)................$ 279.00
Web site
http://www.conleyprecision.com/
Yes these are for people that have more money then most. LOL But still fine craftsmanship. Do to there are not any standards for measuring HP on engines like this hard to compare the 5.5 HP to what others. So it would be hard to compare to the engines we run unless all are done on the same machine.

Yeh, it looks great like they all do, but to this date, I've NEVER seen one going full speed or in fact more than about 5mph. I musta seen tons of videos of them idling, but never one going flat out with gears engaged. Anybody know of such a vid?

type in conley v8 on you tube, there' vids of the corvette, bucket T and monster trucks, thing is these are not fast, the power to weight is not that good even with the blower. the old motors ran on nitro but can't find any info on the 609. however they're true scale models so speed isn't what they're all about
There is also a builder who makes gas powered 1/3rd scale 350's and rebuilt a challenger v8 with plugs, alternator etc [link]http://www.moyermade.com/chevyV8.html[/link]
I stared a thread with this vid...20 000hrs it took for this guy to build this ferrari, not in rc mode but could be made into one, tho changing gear might be tricky [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeUMDY01uUA&feature=related[/link]
these guys are something special, all of them...taking it way beyond the next level...make us lot look like we're still playing with fisher price stuff LOL...they are truly dedicated modellers to the max (I wonder do they have wives? especially the ferrari guy)

RE: The real deal
Being they are 4 strokes you can not except to much speed. They just do not turn that many RPM just like the difference between a .21 nitor compared to one the same size that is a 4 stroke. I agree with mooman these guys are true modelers. Whats wrong with out having a wife I don't. Been through 3 of them and what they cost me I could have had MANY of these engines and high dollar RC vehicles. LOL I gave up on woman some time back and I have a LOT more money.

RE: The real deal
The older conley engines ran on nitro and were glow ignition. The new engines run on straight gasoline and are spark ignition. I have a conley glow ignition engine that has not even been started yet. I cant decide what to put it in. Its doubtful I will be able to buy another, so the choice needs to be right.
The stock trans is a dummy trans. Its just a clutch bell inside there with a output shaft to go to a rear end.

RE: The real deal
I read somewhere on the Conley site where he is going to make transmissions but would only be forward, neutral and reverse. I looked but could not find it right off hand.

RE: The real deal
I met Conley a couple times at the Toledo Hobby show in years past. This year, he fired up the blown v8 rail a few times in his booth. The sound if it revving in person is awe inspiring.
