Default Too good to be true 2.4ghz radio?

Hey, i'm curious if anyone has any experience/feedback on this pretty dang cheap MX Sport 2.4ghz radio from Airtronics? I've never used any of their products, i've been a Spektrum man for years with good results, but soon i'll be getting a Baja 5T and I will eventually ditch the FM radio for a 2.4ghz. But i'm having a harder time justifying spending the money on a DX3S radio when I could come out major money ahead getting the MX Sport. Though I do like the aspect of the telementry with speed and temp monitoring of the DX3S, being the computer geek that I am, but man, its pricey. And at $80, the MX Sport freaking half the price of a comparable Spektrum DX3.0 which just astounds me.

I'm wondering though, whats going to be my tradeoff with something this cheap in comparison to say, the very popular Futaba 3PM or even the DX3.0? Thanks for any incite.

I don't see how you could get much cheaper then $80 without buying utter crap chinese clones.

i got the nutech LCD 3ch handset and it's not a crap clone...made by the same folks who make the 5b handsets...housings are identical apart from the screen

it is actually an excellent radio with epa, speed, expo, abs, built in failsafe...good range and no glitches.....one thing i don't know though is the price but know a man that will, but i'd assume around the same as the one from rc4wd maybe a tad cheaper..

Airtronics makes great stuff i was going to buy the MX sport but i was just so used to my old airtronics MX-3 FM, I just went on and got the MX-3 fhss , for 129.99 on some ebay store, could not be happier with it great product, if you read the specs on the two radios there not that much different i think the only thing different is that the mx-3 fhss has more model memory thats it, they both have the same range

Schumacher now do a nice stick 3 channel set called CODE my freind has just got them in his shop, he has already sold 6, they are 2.4ghz with receiver £89..99!
And the RX are only £35 each! It`s amazed us that Spektrum haven`t released a 3 channel stick tranny. People in my friends shop are sometimes put off by gun controls.

Yeah it feels very solid, i also have a futaba 3PM which is also a great radio, but it feels a bit plasticy, compared to the airtronics.

im thinkin of getting the mx3 fhss2 also for my back up..since i got m11 fhss2 .for 80bux cant beat that!!if u look at the comparison mx3 vs spektrum, spektrum can only go up to 300ft.while mx3 is 1200ft..thats what u need for the 5t?ive been using my m11 fhss2 and never had a problem with range yet.

There is no substitute for futaba... I have been to many meets and I never met a person with a malfunctioning futaba (not CLAIMING there arent... It could just be luck) but I have met MANY with malfunctioning Spektrums (lots of people wrecked). Airtronics is good too. Look for a Tx/Rx that has good reliability and CHEAP Receivers. The only reason I do not recommend Futaba is because welll for my trucks I've bought 5 receivers and at 89.99 each it is FAR too expensive.

If you want a low cost 2.4 system ($50), this Eargle is pretty good so far, has a load of settings. The extra rx's are stupid cheap, under 10 bucks! The new 3rd gens have a failsafe too. There's a long post on these under the radio & electronics thread.
