Baja owners beware!!!
I just got my 5T RTR with the 2.4GHZ out of the box, and after reading several forum posts regarding dry diffs, I decided to tear it down (dammit!) an check mine out. Sure enough, the diffs were dry as a bone. They had a thin film of light oil but just enough to last a few runs. I wonder why HPI does not address this ongoing problem, and if they refuse to fill diffs, just leave them out and let the owners do it. Unless they just want to sell more spare parts.

This has been known for some time, especially if you been around HBF long enough. As far as HPI doing it intentially to sell you replacement parts, well thats just utter BS.
Mine was also empty but lightly wet, but some 10k oil took care of that.

Because I told him of how unfair he treats other people that ''arnt'' his friends or paying members, especially for turning a blind eye to following forum rules or even stating personal opinions. I and many other people were sick of it and decided to call him out on it and obviously, he can't handle the truth.

Yep this is true, HPi probably knows about this .. the baja has been out now for how long? come on HPI fix this problem.....My original diff lasted 20 mins before it blew( back in 2006) and hpi was kind enough to send me 2 complete diffs under waranty... but that is besides the point.. but this is still a problem to date now in 2010[X(][X(] pretty sad...

Hello to all,
I just wanted to ask the question of which is the best oil to use in my baja 5t diff so that i can slide on command but still keep a good line in the tight corners without spinning out.....
Kind Regards

RE: Baja owners beware!!!
I put in 10k oil in my 5T diffs. Seems to work pretty good for me as I wanna be able to power through loose stuff without unloading all the time. 1k is just way to light. I know some peeps have put in 30k in their diffs.
