I'd say the GP290 kit would be the easiest route and gives a good power hike, just a simple head and piston swap, the kit comes with all gaskets, gudgeon pin, circlips, piston and ring aswell as a sparkplug, they aren't that expensive either and mated with a rear Dom have quite a dramatic effect on overall power, its one of the better options if on a budget and keeps the 28mm stroke which in my opinion is better than any 30mm stroked engine....

Yep, that's agood upgrade, but for a little more go for this one. I have a few of them, and have had extrmemely good success with them. I have one in my Baja 5b, and a Dom V2, it wheelies. LOL

It can be done in the car, but it is so much easier to remove the engine from the car. Cleaner, easier access to everything. Remove it. It is the easiest way to go about doing a pot swap. Get yourself a copper base gasket .020" and some anerobic sealer avaible at any parts store.

Resist the urge to use any type of silicone.

For a 4 bolt you can get away with the supplied gaskets, on a 2 bolt you are asking for trouble, they have a tendency to blow out. The copper gaskets are reusalbe. So they can be used for a very long time.

Why is silicone bad? I just bought a tube of [link=http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_makers/auto_Permatex_Ultra_Copper_Maximum_Temperature_RTV _Silicone_Gasket_Maker.htm]this copper sealant[/link] because I saw it used in a video on sealing nitro engines. Am I using the wrong stuff, or is it fine? I've never actually used any sort of gasket maker with any of my engines before, but I also haven't used copper gaskets till very recently.

1/5 scale mad man, putting on a new head kit is pretty easy, I can guarantee that you'll have little to no problem handling it. If I can handle it, anybody can. Team Fast Eddy has a great series of youtube videos that give a step by step of how to disassemble and reassemble an engine.
