just by any chance did i pique you're interest???
the best built 1/5 i saw at the nuremberg show this year was the hurrax and i want one; it's not a basher but it looks like i'll have 3 tracks close by soon :nothing fancy just bashers tracks...one luckily enough my own[8D] ...i want a track machine that's notf FG or MCD...something different but 4wd and a quality build...there's no N. American hurrax dealer as yet so spares will be a real pain..but I still want a pyrad...the buggy, zynit and pyrad are all the same apart from body and mounts... the OR6 version is same price as is linked but better equipped, with current exchange rates I have to convince the wife like right now that this is a bargain not to be missed[X(] [link]http://www.hurrax-experts.at/Modelle/Crypton/OR6.aspx[/link])

The owner/designer of Hurrax is German, the company is not!!! The company is based in Guangzhou, China....

If anyone is thinking of getting the Crypton make sure it is the lightweight OR6 Extreme version.

they look awesome and the engineering is cool too...i like the enclosed centre gearbox....the good news is hobbythek sell hurrax and parts the bad news is hobbytheks shipping weight policy...to buy the car shipping cost is great to buy a tiny part the shipping is minimum $40[]...

How about a Yuckon. Another work of art dual shocks that body is absolutely perfect. Longer controll arms. MT tires. Accepts 2 1/4 scale steering servo's< somthing every 5th scale needs. Lool how big it is compared to the FG!

I was looking at the yuckon also but really want a truggy for track running...yep, they are huge compared to the fg's and have the best looking bodies (where they get the names from though beats me...yuckon????maybe it was supposed to be yukon but got messed up in the translation[&:])... and the quality is awesome...Mr Hurrax took on board all the faults with G1 and fixed them ...so far from feedback i've been able to find, mostly from Aus and Germany the G2 is now very very good, handles way better than the MCD's and is tougher....
There were still a couple of issues when it was released last year but hurrax sorted them quickly, changes were made to the primary drive and clutch shafts to beef them up, bodies were also made thicker + a few other bits....existing customers got all the improved parts mailed to them free of charge inc shipping...i like service like that.

I'm definitely getting the pyrad...hopefully will have it by the end of the month...

are they a new company?
Their price might be a reason why they aren't that popular here plus no distributor. I love all of the models i've seen but the price/part availability is dreadful.

not new, just no support here so not really mentioned much... after seeing these in person i want one despite the hassle of getting parts... they're very high quality hence the higher price...quality wise they're up with laut, elcon and h.a.r.m.. so I hope it holds up as good as it looks..[&:]..pro5th and vertigo looked at it before to dist but the G1 was so bad they passed it up, parts are available at DPS in Aus and hobbythek...it wont be my main driver...my nutech will, so if i have to wait for parts I can live with it for now...i wouldn't touch a G1 but the G2 is a huge improvement so will give it a go...could be a great move or a really bad one

as far as I can tell the crypton has buggy width arms and the zynit, pyrad and monster have the longer MT arms but yuckonMT is only one with twin shocks.

Good luck with a hurrax Despite there fantastic looks most of the guys that bought them here in Aus have given up and moved on. They break everytime there put on a track, the upgrade parts have also failed. At a recent major event here both hurraxes entered were carried off broken (thats what I saw in the pics, negative talk is hushed up on one of the local forums!). I dont think a single one has been sold here apart from the initial handfull of cost price 'get some out there' cars which were sold to the importers mates (going by the fact I've never seen anyone on any forum post about having one).

THanks Mike. Any idea what is breaking on them? These are the current models?

Sad to hear, but damn they look sexy!

I couldnt tell you what it is that's failing as nothing gets mentioned on the local forums funnily enough. The pics I saw from a recent event had wheels/suspension hanging off could have been a turnbuckle could have been more. Current models with the latest upgrade these are. Second hand value is $0, seen then on ebay go for about 1/10 of new price. There must have been a few guys in the states by now that have tried them with the intent of importing them and them changed there mind

thanks Mike for some input, I guess that's why i can't find anything bad on them...it's not posted[&o] no one here yet has tried the new G2 revised edition or the new pyrad rs...that's why it's hard to find any info...i know the G1 was awful, the OR6 came out last June and still had some issues...the ones i saw at the show in Feb were the latest incarnation

I'd also like to know what's breaking as they did look well made when I saw them in person in Germany, if it's just minor stuff then no biggie, no rc is without issues, if i managed to get my rampage (with all it's problems) reliable so it'll run for more than a tank before it breaks then the hurrax should be a cinch lol ...now I have to search some more...i do know a hurrax supposedly won a big German endurance event recently...

I want a 4wd track machine but not FG and don't want an MCD...latest report on another forum on the V4 in a big race was 3 or 4 stock ones all blew diffs... they still have that awfully weak crap planetary set up...i was told by the MCD owner in Nuremberg when i asked him if they'd been improved was yes you can upgrade to the LSD ones...oh really...can i ...for another $500 i can replace your bogus parts...hmmmmm....I think not!

it'll be a shame if the hurrax is total junk cos they are well laid out and look toooo cool.... and being as superficial as i am, looks before personality I still want one...

I'll take an MCD or a Nutech anyday over a hurrax, and yes I had one[:'(]. I have yet to see a diff failure on an MCD in Australia. The only diffs and diff parts sold here are to clone owners. The hurrax is heavy, slow and doesnt behave like 4x4 should. I havnt seen it win or even rate in the top 10 of any race results I've seen posted. The thing I dont get is if it was any good why have only 2 people in the world taken on dealerships? We had the oppurtunity to but passed thankfully. I would give you more info on the breakages if I could but those involved with them here dont have much to say about it on the forums, compare that to the many happy MCD and Nutech owners who chat about there cars regularly.
I agree they look good but they seem to be a lemon which even the so called big names in 1/5th here havnt been able to fix up with home made mods and parts. Part with your hard earned at your own risk! Its not the first all alloy good looking 1/5th to fail in the market place, ever heard of the J&A racing T3 Mamba? That was another waste of time and money looking for something undiscovered
