By far the 3PM is the best IMO

Futaba, no doubt! I went for Futaba once again, i checked out the Spektrum first but found it being not too advanced for me as the brakemix don't exist on it. It is a very handy function to have on the large scale cars, as i reckon you are going to use it on too, Waqr? Found the Spektrum to be a bit toy-ish too.

You can mix on the Spektrum DX3R it`s the models below that you can`t dx3,dx3.0,dx3s and 3e

I have been running a Spek DX3S on a rock crawler. The range on it is very poor (about 100 yards). A Baja can cruise 100 yards in about 5 seconds. I decided to opt for the Futaba 3PMX on advice from others. I have no idea what the range is on that radio...haven't had it give up yet at over 300 yards.

The DX3S has a pretty screen, though.

I know, i know, but suddenly the price of the radio doubled -almost tripled- when it said DX3 "R" instead of "S". Stupid. Instead of the Spektrum i bought a barely used (two month old) Futaba 4PK for some dollars less than the DX3R.

I have a DX3R no issues. I love the idea of the power coming from 4aa batteries the radio is so light.

I agree, the spektrum does not have the same range as the Futaba's do, if you don't go to far with your Spektrum, you may never know the difference, but if your a good 200 feet+ away, good luck with it..lol
I have had my share of Spektrums and I will never go back after switching to the 3pks, which I feel is the best radio for range and stability.
A light radio can be done easily, just buy the lipo battery for your radio, I bought the one for the 3pk, it will last for Weeks! 3 or 4, without a charge and it is feather light and consistent, unlike the Spektrums.

I plan on getting this for my 5T, I can't justify the cost of Futaba's, no matter how good they are

Futaba. I've said it before and so have others... Spektrum has poor range. I've seen over 6 Spektrum crashes.. 2 weeks ago was the 7th one I saw, it just drove off by it self. 4aa batteries just don't give enough volts. The Futaba 3pm I have is rock solid plus Pulsating brakes!!!

Yes but isn't that 6 channel the remote for Airplanes? My negative comment about Spektrum is directed towards and DX2* and DX3* (*= any of the models).

Get a Futaba. I've been running Spektrum the last few years with no problems until the last couple weeks. Glitching from about 200 feet away in both vehicles, I'm putting Futaba in both of mine now. The Spektrum stuff is going in my electric vehicles.

I have had a dx3s and dx3r and both radios past 200 feet in my 5t would glitch and cause the killer bee failsafe to kick in shutting off the engine. I fly my planes with futaba and should have known better. The truck will be sitting till I get a FASST sysytem and the Spektrum radios are going in my rock crawlers since they dont get driven to far away.
No more spektrum stuff for me I'm not impressed at all [:@]
