pissed around with some axles today... i was dreading making telescopic axle for the lateral movment ...

i thought ild try using the little in/out movement that the unijoints had already and blow me down it was enough
so no having to make telescopic axles

lol you wont be able to get either bolt out

man that steel work looks sick! lol that things tough enough you could probably use a 3hp 4stroke honda sound abit better than the pocket bike engine and would allow a smaller diff gear for more clearance

Loving your work mate, and the parts creativity is wild.
No store bought $200 drive shafts, just a few bucks and some imagination and i bet they`re a hell of a lot stronger.
With your 'A' arms being the same length i didnt think youd have much need for telescopic shafts.
Cant wait for the first run, make sure you give it a good hit with can of gremlin spray before you take it on its test run

What about camber angle ? I saw in your photos that your angle is between 0 and (~)+3 degrees , than the -3 of the proper .

i have about 5mm adjustment on the top arm which is about 2.5mm movement in the axle before it'll bind.. its been adjusted since the pic....
its not perfect but itll do lol

theres a slight positive camber on full compression and 0deg on extension so its not too far out now

well i had to help the step daughter with her school holiday project now its back to the hummer...

it was time to mount and build linkages for the throttle/ brake.... was thinking of another wiper motor to pull the brake
but im running outa room so i thought maybe a Hitec 5745 wil be enough... so we'll see

heres the linkage.... hopefully she'll hold up

Throttle / brake servo test

Throttle / brake servo test 2

all i need now is some fuel line, a chain link, need to alum weld the diff casing to one end, finish the radio box
and shes ready to test... once testing is done ill pull her down again, paint all parts lube all parts and reassemble

getting there

Here it is... on her maiden voyage....

homemade RC Hummer!

cooked the hbridge for the steering servo coz the 3 feedback wires were too close to the sparkplug lead and made the servo go ape sh*t

after building and installing a new hbridge it was all go again

Homemade RC Hummer 2

Homemade RC Hummer 3/3

and then i blew an axle!!!! (bloody dodgy welds lol)

Meh.
A bit tame if you ask me.
I was expecting fire, or at least some smoke.
[&o]
Shoulda barrel rolled it off that little ramp you got there in the yard.

Just kidding mate.
Top job.

Look forward to seeing more of this beast tearing up some dirt and chasing little yap-yap dogs around the park.
