Whats a better gas to oil ratio for the baja 5sc 26cc?
 

Getting baja tomorrow. I know the ratio for gas to oil is 1/20 20/1 something like that. Do you know of a better ratio preferably richer. I don't want to over heat my engine. recommend any please. I use the hpi 2 stroke oil.

That particular oil mix at 25:1 Now if you ever go with a high quality 100% synthetic oil (Redline being my fav), then you can go to 40:1

200ml of Castrol 747 to 5lt of Shell V power will be fine for 99% of zenoah/cy engines.

Depending on the oil you're using, I usually start my engines out on 25:1. Run a few tanks of that through it (maybe even a gallon), then move on to 32:1. That's just me though.

In my opinion you are better off with a castor, synthetic blend. 25 to 1 is best and can run 32 to 1 but if you tune is not dead on you might have problems. This is a cut and past where they are talking about oil in nitro fuel but as the oil goes same difference in either gas or nitro engines.

Over the years, there has been much debate and changing recommendations. First there was castor oil. Then there were synthetics. Some fuels have been blended with all castor oil and some with all synthetic oils. Today, most nitro fuels contain a combination of both synthetic and castor oil. Castor oil is a naturally occurring oil that is derived from a plant. It is a natural lubricant that has some very unique properties. When subjected to higher temperatures, castor oils will actually begin to break down. Normally, this would be a bad thing for a lubricant in an internal combustion engine. However, in the case of castor oil, this "breaking down" is one of it's greatest strengths! When castor oil breaks down at high temperatures, it's properties change and it's high temperature lubricating properties actually increase! As engine temperatures go up further, the castor oil continues to break down and forms a lubricating film that actually protects the engine better. In the process, this film or residue (like varnish) can also gum up the engine and cause other problems. On the other hand, synthetic oils are typically much cleaner and normally do not leave residues behind. Synthetic oils can help lubricating metal surfaces at higher RPM's when temperatures are lower. However, when temperatures rise, synthetic oils can break down and actually burn off leaving little protection for the engine. So, there are strengths and weaknesses of both castor and synthetic oils.

I pretty much always break in engines using 25:1 and then switch to 32:1. I use a variety of oils but generally Klotz, I like it and have a cheap source of it.

Which Klotz do you use? The Super Techniplate which is a blend I get a lot of carbon build up over others like Maxima Castor 927 which is all so a blend.

A cheaper oil at 25:1 for break in and then a quality synthetic at 32:1.

These little engines have high rpm's so I don't care what some packages may say, stay at 32:1 and you will have a happy motor.

Yeah I use the super techniplate and I like it. I does cause buildup but I like to teardown and clean engines frequently for fun anyway so it's no big deal. I like to take them apart and shine things up. It's a good running oil. Seems to keep engines running well even when you need to start them up after a long time of them just sitting there. Though we don't really have extreme temperatures here in the bay area, but still stuff gets nasty.

How does the klotz super techniplate compare to the klotz r/c model lube techniplate? Have you used it at all? I picked up a few quarts last month during ddm's black friday sale.

The supper is a blend of castor and synthetic and RC is full synthetic.

Regular Klotz Techniplate is 100% synthetic.
Klotz Benol is 100% Benol Caster oil.
Klotz SuperTechniplate is 80% synthetic 20% Benol Caster oil.

If you want to run a 100% synthetic Klotz oil look at R50. It is a good clean burning oil.

Iv been running the motul 2T for about 6 years moderate usage in my 30cc zenoah at 32/1 and it has never missed a beat and runs really crisp
