RE: DIY 1/4 CARS RCMK 600B

why do offshore manufacturers insist on using the 5b platform for everything:eek: other than there are probably warehouses full of clones available dirt cheap.

i see a shaft driven 4wd conversion...shame they didn't put in any effort to actually come up with something new instead of flogging an old dead horse who's platform is a long way short of great.

made by who knows but marketed by fidracing.com an gtbracing.com (same company with 2 names)

Whatever happened to the day when quarter-scale cars were made of welded steel tube and alloy.
This thing looks like it's 90% plastic.
Insert big YAWN here.
If people want a plastic car they buy small scale stuff.
Now can we get back to something interesting, like your welded tube and alloy home-build Moo. It's far more impressive.

This is the FID 4wd concept, and by the looks of it this a prototype with 3d printed plastics.
Correct me if i'm wrong FID but being an engineer i kinda recognize prototype stuff pretty easily, just don't tease us actually make this thing please!

The only ressemblance I see to a Baja is the front shock tower design! or maybe Moo's computer is showing another pic?????

on first glance it looked like a 5b so i paid it little heed, however after the benefit of seeing the following pics i can see it is bespoke so i stand corrected and apologize to fid, i still think it resembles the 5b on a quick glance but it now has my interest ;)

looks good , but that front bumper will crumble really bad , in a crash , double side fuel tanks is interesting , looks nothing like a hpi baja .

nice concept. but dont like the cage , the lights, and all that weight in the back.

RE: DIY 1/4 CARS RCMK 600B

I like the individual parts and the project as such...... but I think the overall look and proportions are horrible [&:]
Bigger wheels and different roofline would probably make it look better.

Then again I suppose it's a good idea to see how it handles first and worry about the cosmetics later....
Will keep watching to see where this goes.

And no, I couldn't design anything like this myself, but I still have opinions ;)

RE: DIY 1/4 CARS RCMK 600B

i cant read chinese , it looks like the head gaskets were removed and smeared on some gasket silicone instead ? thats bad. motor is going to get really hot with a very tight squish like that

mooman007uk 04-16-2013 07:48 PM

RE: DIY 1/4 CARS RCMK 600B

the rcmk gaskets are pretty thin, about half of a 4 bolt zen, but it will still decrease the squish a few thou...
personally i'd use gaskets to goo, properly torqued they don't leak, if i do use goo i use just enough for a very thin layer on each surface so i don't get goo squidgeing out the seams, seems like quite a lot in the pictures...it doesn't take much to squidge out to disrupt the airflow thru the transfers

i looks like a chrysler 300 station wagon weighed down at the back with groceries:D

i'm interested to see it run... and stiffer rear springs should help some
