RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Looks like a nice truck, there are some shots of the body at redcats website - love the coloring.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Looks ok. Definitely needs a pipe to get more out of that engine.
I wouldn't be running without a cap with those long body posts hanging out. It seems to have a tendency to nose dive as well, but that's probably just a matter of getting the springs/oil weights tuned up. Thanks for sharing. How did you get one? |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
I don't have one yet. Redcat is only a few miles away from me, so we planned a bash with some baja guys to talk shop. The buggy with the x-can ran great, definitely more power. The monster truck only had a gutted stock can. I'll have to search around for a tuned pipe that will work on this layout. Alot of other great features that we noticed. Redcat will be taking our ideas back to the factory and see what they can do.

RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
ya it looks ok. lacking in power and top speed. what motors do they use. i would asume its a 23cc but who makes it
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Same 23cc CY. The facotry calls it a Fuelie. The Monster Truck isn't the top speed demon, but the buggy is.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
ok it is a fueli.. uhmm. as far as pipes go, is it just guess work or is it known what pipes will match up with it? i checked out there site but cant seem to find prices and ive only seen dealers on fleebay. i must not be looking hard enough. help me out with some links. im getting an mt in a couple of weeks and was thinking bought the firehammer mt and this might be another option.

RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Its not available yet. Redcat has their own forum on here, they will update in there.

RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
that the difference between a 2x2 and 4x4 .......the 2x2 gets all power to the rear wheels look like it faster...the 4x4 splits the power amoung all 4 wheels
the 4x4 would run cirlcles around a 2x2 on a dirt course (same driver) it gets quicker lap times ...the traction you get from a 4x4 is way better... cornering is quicker |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
It definitely climbed hills better than the Baja. Different vehicles for different terrains.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
what pipe are you running on that? its not the stock pipe
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Its a gutted pipe. Just take your stocker from CY and rip the insides out. Makes a big difference. A tuned pipe will make even more horsepower. I just need to try different options and see which pipe is most protected. You guys left alot of room around the roll cage, but its all in the open and vulnerable.

RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
was there something wrong with the gear mesh or the spur, on the last 2 video's you could really hear the gear noise.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Yes, that seems to be an area of noise.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Looked like you guys had fun out there. The truck looks like it was running pretty well for a stock 23cc engine. You really need to have an expansion chamber to squeeze all the power out of those engines.
I loved the little wheelie you got out of it coming up the hill. :D -Derek |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
It only had about a tank and a half run through it, its also geared different than the buggies due to the bigger wheels. So it won't get the speed the buggies get but once we get some more tanks through it, a better pipe and tune that sucker it should be a different animal altogether.
It was fun for sure and the place we ran them is perfect for the big scales. Darin |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
I can't wait to get mine in June! My friends have 5B's (one guy is into his for $3500) and they are all asking me about the truck...
Anyone know where to find some tuning information for this type of engine? I've never had a Gasoline powered RC before...heck, even my weed wacker is electric! ie. break in procedure, how to start it, how to mix the fuel etc. Thanks Rob |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
4x4 buggies and trucks both under $1000[X(] nice...add another 1/5 to the collection

Yeah that truck will be mine!!!

RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Our first shipments are coming with the CY23cc engine (same one HPI uses) and tuning info is all over the internet. We recommend getting a pipe for it, but currently the X-can will bolt right on since there is no pipe that needs to be manipulated to make it fit through the roll cage or body. There are some other pipes you can use, but I personally love the X-Can.
We are working with one of the large pipe fabricators in the U.S. to make one just for our models and of course we will have one from the factory soon as well. Expect a lot of great things to come, but a pipe is something we highly recommend right off the bat to get more power and of course to have them sound better too. Darin |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Looking good Darin, keep us posted as to developments on the tuned pipe front. And once again I gotta say I really like the bodies.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
The X-can with 3" stingers will fit very nicely, and protect you from sand entering the cylinder backwards. 6" stingers will not fit, missed it by "that" much.
|
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
Thanks guys.
We are also working on an open style buggy body that should be available in about a month or so. Darin |
RE: Redcat Rampage MT5
