1/5 F1 cars

Who else besides FG makes 1/5 F1 cars that are sold in the USA? Please post links if you have them. All so if any one has any 1/5 scale F1 cars please post pictures with and with out the body.
Thanks.

I do not have any 1/5 scale F1 cars but would love to. I do have some F1 RC cars and love anything to do with F1. Thanks for the link to the video.

Im in the same boat as you...Love F1 and would love to have a 1/5 f1. I've been looking for months and even used on ebay are about 1500. There are usually more on ebay uk but getting them across the pond is quite pricey.

If there was a 1/5 scale on road track in Georgia I would be more interested. A top notch FG kit is around $3500![X(] Not 1/5 scale but here are some of my RC F1 I do have.

I have a Kyosho F10 but I do not run it as parts can not be found. Has a picco 15 and a 2 speed, very fast.

I do understand as that is a real collectors item. You have run it haven't you? If I had one I would have to run it at least once. I tried to win a couple of them on ebay a few times. Other then my Mini-Z I do not run the ones I have. This is the box my Ofna came in. Not near the collectible as the Kyosho you have.

RE: 1/5 F1 cars

I've ran it quite a bit, I bought it in 1999 and drove 5 hours to pick it up. Parts used to be available and I ran it nearly every weekend for quite a while. One of these days I'll get it back out and probably destroy it.

wow got any more pics of it? close ups? It looks awsome but i doubt it would handle well, with the aluminum body=heavy...

sheograth 05-03-2009 01:09 AM

RE: 1/5 F1 cars

I doubt that body is very heavy at all, it's quite thin. Obviously heavier than if it were Lexan though, but nicer.

RE: 1/5 F1 cars

f1 is just strictly track only use......or if not you need a surface bang on perfect.

i run an onroad most of the time and i run it in a very good aera, its higher off the ground than an f1 so this helps as the surface is still bumpy at speeds.....

if i was running an f1 there it would be ripped apart by now.

they are very nice but very low......

sheograth 05-03-2009 04:25 AM

RE: 1/5 F1 cars

Yeah, you often can't run an F1 in the same places you can a normal touring car, they're far more sensitive. That's one of the reasons I've never bought a 1/5 F1 frankly. I'd just want it for high speed runs but even then I do them in a moderately torn up parking lot sometimes.

I have taken delivery of a ready to race (used) FG Sportsline F1 today -

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/1623/dscn0842c.jpg

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/7759/dscn0843.jpg

http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/97/dscn0844d.jpg

It only cost me £420.00 (about $600.00) and that included the servos, receiver battery, spare tuned pipe and different clutch springs for the stock four shoe clutch.

All I need to do is mount the Oddified ECU and adjust the front/rear brake balance.

RE: 1/5 F1 cars

Sorry no video or action photos - this is the only photo I took at the track earlier today -

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5974/dscn0845c.jpg

It's fast (stock 26cc Zenoah and a basic FG tuned pipe) - I would have thought that a 23cc would a better option for the track the I race at. The alternative is to install the latest Oddified ECU and select an ignition map for the engine that produces less power/torque at low rpms.

Unfortunately I was unable to get sufficient heat in the rear tyres (I only have one set at present) so the car would tend to spin out if the throttle was applied too early.

The session at the track finished early as I hit the track barrier and broke one of the turnbuckles and damaged the lower plastic wishbone.

The disappointing thing is not breaking something but having to a week for replacement parts - if the parts had not been available at the importer/distributor they would have taken at least 3 weeks to come from FG in Germany. Not good enough!!!!

At least I can have some fun at the local mototcross track tomorrow with one of my other largescale toys and not need to worry about breaking anything :D

Clive
