2 gallons later, whats my plug telling me?
Ok, i'm checking the plug once again after reaching around the 2 gallon mark with my stock 5T 26 fuelie. Break in was with .66 gallons of the HPI stuff and now its been Klotz Supertechniplate at 25:1 with non ethanol 91 octane gas. I took pics with and without the flash. The pictures don't show it well, no matter what I did, but it does have a light cappuccino brown color to it all around, which is what im aiming for in accordance to the charts.

this is good freeze. I think you are right on the money. This is a safe zone but you could lean it out a bit more and burn off more of the black gunk and achieve the "brown paper bag" color. I personally like to keep it on the dark side a bit.

I'd leave the carb setting right where it is, plug looks good.

Plug says : Don't touch anything ;)

It says put me back in and run me another 2 gallons and don't change me until I sputter or misfire.

that plug tells me your running the plug a little hot (they dont make platinum or iridium so your fine)... which isnt a bad thing if its a little brown but your burning the electroid.... higher octane fuel will end up doing that.... take a wire brush clean it up regap and put it back in... your settings are fine

If you are planning on iridum plugs i would recomend a NGK CR8HIX for the summertime and a CR7HIX for the wintertime, though those plugs are a bit higher than the shortend plugs most use with these engines. So make sure you dont have any clearance issues first.
Steelbrushing the plugs is generally not recomended and neither is regapping them if your not 100% sure about what you are doing. Otherwise the plug looks ok, got some buildup on it so i would prolly lean out a bit more. Or go for a hotter plug. Do you have any engine mods? |
