Bird of Time electric conversion suggestions
I'm building a Bird of Time and plan to build it with a brushless electric motor in the nose. I have no idea where to start picking a motor folding prop, esc and battery for it, there is just so much to choose from. I'm a bit of an old school flyer as most of my planes have nitro engines and the only electric stuff I have experience with is a few of the RTF stuff and I have a couple Rimfire motors on some park flyers. I'm just guessing about a .15 size nitro motor would fly this plane to thermal heights. Any suggestion on where to start picking my equipment for my BOT sailplane?

DON'T DO IT!!!!
Well, wait a minute it is yours after all.
I would suggest going to the Skybench web site, there are good ideas for Skybird conversions which is pretty much the same plan form.
You might also want to search the R/C Groups for more ideas.
Oh, how that hurt to say that . . . . .

RE: Bird of Time electric conversion suggestions
I flew mine with a .15 on top of wings for years. It is more than enough to put this airplane out of sight.
While flying I lost sight of mine, fortunately others guys in the field saw it and I was able to recover it.

Im working on the same conversion, with an E-Flite 15 in the nose. For esc cooling in going to use naca vents from Park Flyer Plastics. They have a web page, or email me for info. Good Flying

I appreciate this is an old thread, but I've just bought a Bird of Time and intend going straight to E Power, so I'm trawling the threads for tips/ideas.
Thanks for the tip on cooling vents spirit pilot. I'd have just cut 'shark gills' in the side but having scoops makes it so much more efficient.
You guys in the US have it so good when it comes to suppliers of RC gear, a product of having a population of 320 million, and no doubt several million in the RC hobby. It would be impossible to find a manufacturer of such a range of plastic bits here.
As an example, I just bought the BoT from a US supplier, and including shipping via the Global Shipping Program, it's A$280 landed here. Bought locally, it was going to be A$370 + a courier charge of $30.00.

I'm sure by now most BoT guys out there have heard of a guy named Ben who owns R/C Air Mods, He specializes in mods just for the BoT ARF. Great guy who went the extra mile answering my questions and helping me find a solution. He sells all kinds of mod kits at reasonable prices.
