I have attended a number of contests in Sudbury MA with the Charles River Radio controllers, as part of the Eastern Soaring League. Do you know CRRC?

Why do I start discussions like this?
Well, for one thing I am an AMA Contest Director as well as a contest pilot. And since I enjoy these things so much I like to understand why others don't so I can try to make the contests I manage more enjoyable.
In addition I have frequent discussions with other contest pilots and CDs and this is a topic we discuss, so I really appreciate everyone's input.
