Lift of 30 to 50 mph EPP plane?
Hi folks
I need your experience. I am living in a zone of havy winds and slopes of 200 to 400 foot, this is Chubut ,Argentina. What EPP plane recommend you, also I have desertic forest to land over, very sharp and stones.
If you believe I am wrong came here with your plane and see what happen I have a bed and food for one person.
And if you have time I can carry you to 250 miles to the south from my house and you see winds of 50 to 80 mph all the long day and slopes of more than 500 foots.
Many thanks for your time
Sorry I have no hardwaare to send routes and maps by internet, but if you are interested I can send by the old mail

For durablity and high wind performance the [link=http://www.californiasailplanes.com/eraserbig.html]Eraser 60[/link] is a good choice, for high wind, high durability and very high energy the [link=http://www.californiasailplanes.com/electron%2054.htm]Electron 54 DS[/link] really works well. I've flown the Electron in very high wind and it does well. You can add 15 OZ of ballast to make it penetrate smoother as well.

Sounds like you'll be able to fly just about anything out there. You might want to look at the Moth 60" (also known as the M60).[link]http://www.northcountyflyingmachines.com/[/link]

If you want a plane that looks like a plane the Leading Edge Gliders P-51 or ME-109 will handle 30-50 mph winds no problem. I have flown them in winds up to 80mph but they needed about a pound of lead stuck to the bottom of them in those wind speeds. leadingedgegliders.com
The Patton Aircraft 48" kits will handle winds up to 40 with no problem. Higher than that they tend to just bounce around.
For flying in winds like that just make whatever plane you get HEAVY. Use lots of strapping tape and add additional spars if you can. Just adding lead to most foamies designed to fly in 20mph winds is not gonna do it. You will need to add structure to keep them stiff too.

RE: Lift of 30 to 50 mph EPP plane?
Hello
Many thanks for your help.
I am collecting info to buy a EPP plane.
In the summer we have heavy winds in daylight with 30 to 50 mph most commonly but in a good day we can expect 70 mph .
Good advise TFLG, I am green in dinamic slope soaring.
Hasta la vista

At 10000-14000+ feet it gets pretty gonzo.

My best bird is a 48" BD-5(SD6060 airfoil) from SR Hobbies. Hobby People have it I think. It flys in VERY light lift but its good to 35mph with NO ballast. Add the 3oz lead pack and shift to full punch mode and its a good to a solid 50+mhp(moves at like 5 mph).
Be warned I have folded the wing before, now I beef it up.
Penetration is difficult with epp.
