Dynamic Soaring
I'm looking for information on what kind of airfoils people have been dynamic soaring with. I know that these would probably have to be fairly thin for lowest Cd0 values. The Extreme-DS and the Sting-DS seem to be the quickest planes out there. Any ideas as to their airfoils?
Thanks,
Ian

RE: Dynamic Soaring
AFAIK, my own Sting-DS has clocked the fastest speed for that particular plane (195mph), but there are lots of other planes (Wizard, Opus, ****, Extreme, etc) that have gone faster, so I wouldn't call it the quickest. As far as airfoils go, the Sting uses the HN1038, which is the same as on the Nemesis. The Opus uses the RG14. Not sure about the others.
The Extreme uses the JW-DS19. There's a good discusion of DS airfoils, including the DS19 here...

RE: Dynamic Soaring
My Blade has rg15 and it hauls, i've ds'ed it at Cape Blanco, (Oregon) , Parker mt(ca)and Poway(Ca),TorreyPines(Ca) and i still have it have it in the hanger. Must be doing something right with this airfoil.
