I am looking for plans and tips on how to build a piggy back glider cradle for a 2M sailplane. I have heard that it is important to have about negative 2 degrees on the cradle. Any other tips or suggestions please?
Cheers

Thanks for your help. I have found plans here that others may find useful as it looks like a very well made unit.

MinnFlyer,
We liked your cradle and built two. We did have to lower the top dowels because the fuses would not nestle low enough to have the wing rest on the cradle. Nevertheless, a super, inexpensive great mount. Thanks, Mike Propeck, Jamestown, ND

Take a look at Hanger 9's cradle. I've flown it and the one Hobby Lobby markets. Open space in the sides of the cradle is a good thing. When the glider releases, the carrier plane can become a real pig to fly. The cradle becomes two giant fertical fins right on the cg. You will need to coordinate rudder to fly. All your trims are instantly off, too. A lot of lift goes when the glider leaves.
Be very careful with whatever you use for latches. They MUST release cleanly EVERY TIME. I've had two instances where the glider didn't release. This is really interesting, but not much fun. The last time, I was using a USAircore trainer and a DAW foamie gilder. The stuck together combo quit flying about 60 ft off the ground. I broke the prop. This is a good combination to practice with.
Give serious thought to some kind of outrigger to support the glider wings. There can be a tendency for the glider to tip to one side or the other while attached to the cradle if the wings aren't supported to stop this. Tipping complicates both trim and the chances for a good release. Have Fun!
