Default Thermic 2.5M

Hi guys,

I am getting ready to buy the Thermic 2.5M TE glider and I wanted to see if anyone has had experience with this plane.

It looks amazing and is pretty affordable. I woould appreciate any insight that any owner can share.

Thanks a bunch

Tom

buy it you will love it. Built mine as a poly ship but I put 3 breaks in each wing and backed off on the over all poly angle a bit. Put spoilers in it or you will be chasing the thing all over. One other thing I did was to create a bigger gluing area for the stab by putting a piece of 1/4" triangle stock on each side of the tailboom.

Back in the US, I have an ArtHobby Thermic, with the cross-tail and ailerons. Re-learned to fly on it - it flies great. Stable, fast, agile, launches like a rocket and signals lift easily. It made me look like a much better pilot than I was.

The only problem I had with it was the that spoilers were ineffective. I think more throw will fix that. Also, the tailsurfaces are fragile.

I just finished building mine. The pod and boom are first class, but you must use small servos.
The wings are beautifull also! It is ultra lite for a standard class sailplane!
I have not flown it yet.

Thanks everyone for replying. The fact that it is as light as it is given the span is what I thought would make it an amazing plane. Does it come with the towhook set up material?

I am selling a few things off then I am having one sent over..I can't wait.

[]The tow hook is just a piece of 1/16 wire that you bend and insert into the fuse.
Though not adjustable, it should work all right.

I made my towhook out of a threaded rod-end, since I was nervous about ripping the thing loose on a winch-launch. Art Hobby also sells heavier-duty towhooks.

Building my Thermic, the biggest headache was getting the wing to mount absolutely square.

did any of you have problems ordering through Art Hobby?? I placed an order for a Sierra, and the page said that they would email me an invoice and instructions to pay, it never came.

Called and was told i should use the webpage to make an order.

Here's a building thread on RCforums:

Here's an article for drilling the wing mount holes.

Well I got the plane and all I can say is WOW!

The wing is first class as is the pod and boom. Excellent stuff, but small indeed.
The tail surfaces seemed very fragile so I went in a different direction. The pics I have don't really do the plane justice, and the tail feathers we went with are from another scratch build plane that we had laying around.

I added an extra pound to the plane from the listed specs, but all this seemed to have done is make it better. The plane turns ultra flat and grabs thermals like velcro. It signals well and stays right in the core.

I LOVE THIS PLANE!

This is a great way to take the next step not break the bank in doing so.

Also the folks at Arthobby have been first rate. They shipped quickly and were very responsive.
