RE: Identification of Sailplane
Well, after the suggestion about it being a Dodson bird and looking at it again, I'd have to agree.
I had several Dodson Camano's in the late 70's and I loved them.
I'm betting someone here can find a stab plan for you.
What a beautiful bird. I've seen a couple of them finished but that one is way to complicated for me to build.
If you're going to keep it you're going to love it.
Good luck and good lift.

Sorry. I didn't mean to imply it was a Camano. I just said I had built and flown several of them. I'm pretty sure other poster is correct, the airplane sure looks like a Maestro Mark III.
And what I was getting at was that it seemed like everything Bob Dodson designed flew great, so I'd keep the airplane if it were me.

Here are a couple of Pic's of my late Camano. This is one of the early models with a built-up 111" wing. I did mod. the stab. to full height. The plane you have looks like either a Maestro MK III or a Megan, the wings look to long for it to be a Maestro Caliante which only had a 100" wing. I have a set of plans for a MKIII somewhere, but not sure if its with my kit or not. Will have to make a trip to storage and check it out.

Thanks for the pics. Looks cool. Mine is definatly not a Camano by the looks of it. I will keep the search alive. Anybody else?

125" isn't much different from 134", so the stab from a Lovesong would probably work if you put the alignment pin in the proper location. There's bound to be someone with a set of plans or a stab left over from a Lovesong. I can send or post pics of my stab if that would help.

I'm almost positive that it isn't a Camano. Note that the plane in Tyyoon's pic has a fairing for the stabs - I don't remember any of Bob's planes having that. Also, didn't the Maestro have a rolled-balsa tailboom? If so, all of those that I've seen were much bigger in diameter at the forward end than Ty's pic.
I still have an old Camano fuse that's unstarted (just the taco) in the garage... Gonna have to build it one of these days.

Yes the Maestro's had a rolled tailboom and fiberglass forward pod. The fuse in the pic does not look like a Dodgson fuse at all. The wings could have came from a Maestro kit, but hard to tell from a pic. But if your only looking for a stab for it I'm sure a stab from most any plane that size would work fine.

Thanks for all the noise guys. I have my plane pegged as a Aquila XL from Airtronics and the stab plans are on the way. With any luck I will have it ready by August. Cheers.

RE: Identification of Sailplane
One thing I can tell you is that it ISN'T a Maestro.......if for no other reason than the Maestro was a fully sheeted wing......it does look more like an Aquila fuse with flat wings........
