If it's within your budget, I'd say get a RR Easyglider E. Like it says, slap in a cheap ESC, reciever and a batt and she's ready to go. On top of that, if you break it, it only costs a few drops of glue to fix it.

If you have a highstart, winch or access to either, then get the RR glider version and save money on the batt/ESC for the EasyG E.

The Easyglider E is an excellent plane. If you want a cheap wooden and glass built setup I have both an Omei 2000 with motor and a Cermark Phoenix with servo's and motor that I'd send your way at 50%.
The Easyglider is good and so is the Cermark as a first motor sailplane.
In a well designed sailplane the motor and battery take up most of the weight from adding lead ballist to a strictly sailplane only setup and add the bonus of not having to use a hi-start and also adds the bonus of using the motor in regaining altitude, changing position or getting out of a tight spot.
Cheers,
Alex
