Hi joedoe,
Ouch, on those crashes. Towing looks very challenging.
I just put up a short clip of on board video shot from my 2M E-powered sailplane. Did you intend for others to share their videos in this thread, if so I'll throw mine in.
Thanks,
Pete

Kamakasi, I am not the owner of the ASH-26. He is using the bungee from here: http://www.aerofoam.com/hosemonster.html
He used to have the tow hook right in front of the CG. However, he now has put 2 hooks on each side of the fuselage - right under the wing and right before the CG. He modified the tow line which now has a "Y" at the end to attach to both hooks. This provides a much safer launch! I would recommend 2 hooks on any glider over 100" now. His ASH has no landing gear.

DG-1000 Crash on Bungee launch - How not to do a rise-off-ground bungee launch with a DG-1000. The glider has been fixed, it is soaring again!

94"WS Telemaster from hobbylobby. E-Flite 160 motor, Castle Creation Phoenix 85-HV controller, two 5S-5000 lipos in series to make 10S, 18x8 APC electric prop. I reinforced the spar where the tow release sits. That release I got from a guy up in MA, it;s $25 and made out of aluminum 9let me know if you want his contact info). It is $25 and a great release. I am using Towerhobbies TS-70MG servos on all surfaces. I have the #134 gear from here http://www.graphtechrc.com/Secure/mall/maingear.asp to make room for the big prop and put 5" wheels on. The tailgear lloks like this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCLK9&P=ML
I modified the wing. It comes with rubber bands to hold to the fuselage, which would not work well on a tow setup. Now, I have 4 plastic screws holding the wing to the fuselage. I put the tail servos close to the tail for short linkages. It also comes handy since I do not need any extra balancing weight.

joedoe,
Where on the Susquehana River are you flying....and when? I have a Great Planes Siren that would probably be great on your slope! I've heard about your site, but not sure where it is exactly.
