Freedom Slope Glider converted to electric
1 Attachment(s)
Hello I found this picture of a man with a Freedom Slope Glider converted to fly with an electric motor and folding prop. Does any one have more information about what size motor he used? I have a Freedom glider and like the conversion idea. I am thinking about building another fuselage to mount the engine in. Then I can have both the pure slope glider and electric power.

wiscmodelern,
Are you still interested in this plane? I plan on making a enlarged 120" version converted to electric. |
What size motor you use depends on what level of performance you want.
Start with the all up weight. 50 watts/pound = It will fly - good for a back-up motor for a slope glider to save it when the lift disappears or for casual flying when the wind changes directions. 75 watt/pound = Fun sport flying and aerobatics 100+ watts/pound = strong climb and may go straight up. 150 watts/pound = unlimited straight up climb. All depends on what kind of performance you want. |
