Is this an ok setup?

I have an old Gentle lady 2m sailplane and just picked up these items do you think they will work for this plane. I have not purchased the prop yet its just my guess so far, this electric stuff is new to me. I will be using 3s 1500 lipo.

RE: Is this an ok setup?

That motor is WAY overkill for a Gentle Lady. Use it if you have it already but I'd suggest drop down to a 10x6 on a 2S pack to keep from ripping the wings off.

I was doing near 3D style aerobatics on a 36 oz model with my own 480 with a 10x6 running on the old 7 cell Nimh packs. On a Gentle Lady it would have gotten to the stratosphere in about a minute. And that's what you're talking about using except with the added power of a 3S pack.

I also suspect that on a 3S pack that the 11x6 is going to push the motor past its max power point and it'll get hot enough to fail. If I'm wrong it won't matter because the Gentle Lady will be climbing vertically with speed flutter in the wings.... :D

I flew it today and you are correct it is quite excessive however I kinda like it. I went with a 10x6 on a 1500mah 3s battery got 11 climbs to as high of an altitude as I care to go almost completely vertical. The 3s was a hoot, but I think I will pick up a 2s battery as you recommended it would probably be about right.
thanks

Bruce and I had a similar discussion about my setup for a Sectra 2 M. Let my WOW factor get a LITTLE out of hand.
I ran motocalc with your setup with 2Cell and looks good.

Good luck.

Unless you are trying to drop weight, stay with the 3S pack if it is working well. If you want less power just back offthe throttle.
