Default Starter shaft stripping

This is my last question for the day...I promise. I'm using a Zeal startcone on my concept 46 vr (z8022) and starting it with the cheapest 6mm start shaft that I can find. Either my startcone or my start shaft is getting stripped ALL THE TIME. I know that continuously turning a engine over can wreck the start components...so I've tried to avoid that. But does this happen to other people? Any ideas on avoiding this? Continuously replacing the startcone and start shaft is getting old. Thanks!
