You might get some suggestions here but you're in the beginner airplane forum. Try the heli forum.

Good luck!

I have seen a number of T-Rex 450 XL (that is the plastic version) RTF packages on Ebay lately for not much more than that G2 and 10 times better heli.
If you can kick it up to around the $300 range and are willing to wait and bid you can pick up a RTF HDX450 which in my opinion is on par or maybe even a bit better that a T-Rex 450SE. Again that is on Ebay, you can see the stats on helidirect.com

I have a Esky Belt CP, it flies great, and is compatible with alot of T-Rex 450 parts.

On the other hand, E-Flite's Blade 400 has a Spektrum 6-channel radio, and it a pretty nice helicopter.

With the T-Rex though, EVERYONE has one, so plenty of people to help you with it, and you will look like everyone else.

I say go with whatever one fits you, I personnally will never buy a T-Rex, since everyone has one, I have fun modding the ones that aren't as popular.

The g2 is a decent ccpm heli but you're going to have a hard time learning. The cx is like a tri-cycle compared to a 600cc crotch rocket ccpm heli. If you have a sim practice, if you don't have a sim.... pray (jk). Suggest that regardless of what ccpm heli you get you stay away from tail motors and do radds school of flight. Remember, bigger is more stable.

Wow, that shark really isn't that cheap... $384...

the Belt CP w/ an upgraded esc would be around $225. A used eflite blade 400 is around $350-$375 (this is the route I would take).

The belt cp is a nice cheap starter heli with good online parts support. Make sure that you either replace the esc or watch the temps of the esc, battery and motor very closely (should do this anyway).

You should also consider getting a simulator program for your computer. Realflight G4 has been the best investment in heli's I have made. It will save you a lot of time and parts.

Haloman,

There are so many things at play here.

Simulators are just that... simulations.

No simulator that most of us "regular" civilians will ever encounter (or afford) will be the same as the real thing.

Having had the Axe CP-L since mid-Jan. '08, and the G4 for a week now, I can say the G4 Axe CP sim is more difficult than the real thing (TO ME). Even despite the perfect set-up and HH gyro the [unmodified file] Axe displays in the G4 sim.

But again so much is at play here. Where to start?

But if you can fly the virtual craft then you will likely be able to fly the real one (after the adrenaline rush).
