Hello.
I'm new to helis. I traded my nitro truck for a Blade CP Pro a while back and have just gotten around to it now. I've read and viewed many tutorials on first flight, hovering, getting used to the controls on the ground, etc. Now my question pertains to the set up of the helicopter. I can't get it to hover. As soon as it gets off the ground, it seems to go back and right. I've tried to trim it out but Ican't add enough trim. For those experienced fliers, do you think this is this a set up problem, or do Ijust need more practice? I've throttled it up just enough to not take off and tried moving it around on the ground (as was instructed in a video I saw), but it won't go forward. No problem going backward or right, but left is tough and forward is impossible. I've also checked the balance both forward and back and left and right. That seems to be ok.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Part of your problem is that the CP Pro is not a good beginner heli, so the learning curve will be more difficult. Nice thing about it is that since it is harder, going to a better heli will seem easy and make you a better pilot. If you are using excessive trim, then it seems you need to adjust the control rods. It sounds like you need to lengthen your rear right rod. Look at your swash plate, does it look level or angled back?

Thanks for the reply.
Ahh yes. Iforgot to include that I understand it is not a beginner's heli. I'll deal w/ the steeper learning curve to avoid buying another unit that I'll be bored w/ quickly.
I looked at the swashplate (lower) and it is not straight and is angled back. Should I adjust the rods (lengthen) to make the swashplate even then? Would Ilengthen rear or shorten front or a combo of both?
Thanks again.

It is hard to say. if it is just one that looks to low, I would lengthen it. You have to be careful adjusting because you could possibly change your pitch if too much adjusting is done. BTW, I did the same thing and just went for it.

Thanks. I adjusted it so it's much more even but I notice that when Ipull the right hand stick back, the blades tilt back but also a little right still. I'm sure w/ some more fanagling Ican get it right. But now Ihave a much better idea of what it should look like/how it works. Hopefully I'll get it right and get this thing up and flying.
Last question: Once Ihave it set up correctly, should the heli go pretty much straight up when Ithrottle it up (in no wind condition)? Or will it always move left/right/wherever movement once it lifts off the ground?
BTW, Iput flat bottom "learning" blades on it hoping that will help w/ the learning curve.

Best way I can describe a CP heli is that it is like balancing a basketball on your fingering. It should be centered, but you are always making minor corrections. In a no wind condition, it should take little effort to hover it if it is trimmed properly.

The wash from the rotor blades when you are first taking off can cause the heli to move a little left or right.....but once you are off the ground a few feet it should be steady if everything is set up and trimmed properly.

Thanks Real. That's what Iwas asking. Right now, it gets off the ground and immediately starts going back right almost tipping the heli on it's side. Iknow that didn't seem right. I'm going to attempt adjusting it today.
