What training gear size should I get for a HeliMx Falcon air 3D?  I am new to heli flying and I don't understand classes (i.e. 250, 300 etc.)

Ideally you'll need one bigger than the overall diameter of your rotors. If you can't find one that size, any that widen that platform and provide some shock absorption will work too.
I've been looking for one for my HK600, which hasa rotor diameter of 1200mm or 4 feet. I found a guy on ebay who builds them for $55.

Hey Folks,
Stopped by the LHS the other day and the local Heli guru recomended a Blade 120 SR and a Phoenix R/C Pro Flight Simulator 2.5 w/DX5e. Any thoughts on this as starter package for the brother-in-law?

Emphatic yes on the Phoenix sim. Hold off on a heli until you get good on Phoenix. The 120 SR is highly recomended, but I'm kinda meh. It's a little too big for indoor, and way too small for outside. I wish I had bought a Blade MSR instead. The issue with the 120 indoors in house-size roomsis that it stirs up the air on it's own and it's pretty quick. Once you get good on Phoenix, then I think it'd be OK inside.

Totally support the idea of a Blade mSR with the DX6i... I fly the MCX S300 and the mSR and think they are the way to go to start learning. Not wanting to listen I bought a CP pro for my 1st heli... Big mistake. I watched the guy fly it and listened to him tell me how it's real easy to pick up all the technique needed to fly it. Bought it, 2 flights (very short) and 2 crashes and I decided to listen... Now after 8 mos. of practicing with the MCX and the mSR and I now can fly the CP pro... nothing great but other than a couple hard set downs I'm doing better. Personally I find the Pro to be a fairly difficult flyer as it's just a bit to fast (response) for me. Yes, I do think readjusting the curves to something flatter will help but I'm just not at the point where I am comfortable jumping into that yet. It's pretty much winter here so the indoors flyers will be my main thing and just trying to refine my skills. Best advice... Don't rush into it, admire the videos of all the 3D fliers out there but recognize that it will be awhile before you're ready for those levels.

Btw, I use Realflight 4.5 sim with the DX6i. Highly recommend you use the transmitter for the sim that you will use to fly... Helps you get used to the same controls and the feel. I have a friend using Realflight 3.5 and it's really every bit as good and a bit cheaper in cost.

Moontans post brings up good points about the SR120 indoors. Others in their discussion groups state same. IMO you should most def get the DX6i instead of the 5i. Just way better as you advance.. the 6i is able to do things that most of us will prolly never use.. the 5i will leave you short. x-tra $30 is well worth it. Still say the mSR is the heli for him.
