Trex 450 Beginner
Hey guys my wife just got me a trex 450 clone for christmas. Its actually a titan 450 metal carbon fiber version. So my first question is What parts should I stock up on while Iam waiting for xmas. I know I am going to crash it and Iwould prefer as little down time as possible so what parts am I most likely going to break. I was also wondering for those of you familiar with the titan 450 what should I upgrade on it if anything. I would imagine the only things worth upgrading would be servos and the gyro but from the reviews ive read they seem to work pretty well. If anyone has any info that contradicts thats let me know.
Also any general info that you guys would be kind enough to pass along to me would be great. I am doing my best to pick up info on the site but its tuff. Maybe Iam missing it but this forum doesnt have any faq does it? |
RE: Trex 450 Beginner
most of my local hobby shops (in the UK ) sell a "crash kit" for the t-rex range , it may be worth looking at your LHS to see what they sell for the titan .
also i would recomend getting the shop to set it up before your first flight and check everything is ok ( that will save you a couple of crashes ) good luck :) phil. |
RE: Trex 450 Beginner
Thanks mad. They say the titan is an exact copy or the trex so Iguess I will find out quickly heh. Sadly I try my hardest not to support my local hobby shop. They enjoy practicing price gouging which I could deal with except they are rude know very little and rarely have what I need in stock. Idont ask for strange things either they dont even stock traxxas parts which is what they sell. The other hobby shop which I like and do support doesnt sell planes and helis so I am pretty much on my own. Thanks for the suggestion though maybe I will order a kit like that online.

RE: Trex 450 Beginner
Here is what I keep in my spare parts box.
main shafts feathering shafts tail drive shaft main gear tail boom blades (both main and tail) canopies (not mandatory...I like having a spare and also quick change of the looks of the heli) servo rebuild kits Just about any crash or hard landing will cause you to bend shafts (sometimes and more often than not all 3)...so IF I were only going to stock the bare essentials...it would be the shafts. |

RE: Trex 450 Beginner
If the clone was not too expensive get another one for parts. You will then have what ever you need to get back into the air and you can reorder spares for the spare.
It seems like if you have a spare parts stock you will need ONE part you don't have. Jim |
